So I ordered Full Metal Panic! The Complete Collection. And it came in the mail while I was away but I opened it to find Full metal Panic! The Perfect Collection. I has eps. 1-26 but i paid like $40 thinking it was the thin pack and I dont want to have gotten screwed. So before I open the wrapping can anyone tell me exactly what this is?

Storelink ?

The complete Collection should contain 7 disks of the first series in slim dvd packaging. Price should be ~ >$50

The Perfect Edition has 3 Dvd's containing all S1 eps to be found for around <$30 online.

So they sent you the big box and not the thin pack? Well, the big box is usually worth more anyway. So you certainly didn't get screwed. Might take up a little more space on your shelf but that's about it.

its not very large though it has three dvds but it also has 650 min as opposed to 600 min on the thin pack. but if i payed $40 when i can get it for less than i might return it because i was under the impression that i was buying the thinpack for $40. i had purchased it from a guy on amazon..

I tend to stay away from Amazon's 'alternate purchase'. Amazon does not do background checks on them, so its like buying stuff off of EBay, without the bidding. You have to be careful.

My coworker ordered a conversion ring for his camera from one of thes 'alternate' sellers. It was completely different than what was listed on the site, and the way he got it resolved was by getting the BBB involved.

If the seller is a business, its always a good idea to check www.bbb.org (if its a US based business) to check its history. If there are lots of complaints in the past year, or there are lots of complaints that are unresolved, then stay away from the seller.

Three DVDs? Do they contain all the episodes? If it's over 600 minutes, I assume it's supposed to. The full box set should have 7 DVDs. Maybe they did it like they did Outlaw Star and in each DVD case, there's two DVDs.

In any case, for $40 for the entire FMP series, I don't see how you got ripped off. Most stores charge around $60 or $70 for a 26-episode thinpack. And the only reason you typically get the thinpack instead of the original is because it's cheaper.

The way I see it, it may not have been what you were expecting, but the product is the same, and you got it for much less. Personally, I'd hang onto it so long as the DVDs are all there and everything works fine. But that's your call.

yeah its three dvds and its 650 min. so since the thinpack only has the actual episodes i am assuming that this might have the extra stuff. I have decided to keep it, because for one, i just really want to watch my full metal panic >< anyways if anyone is curious this is what it looks like.

I do know of late all of ADV's thinpaks cut down the number of DVDs needed
to hold an entire series by dropping all extras that would have normally been
found in the regular DVDs -- ie. cast interviews, sketches, etc. The main
thing I'd watch for is if it was advertised as 'Import,' which is used
by some dealers as a euphemisim for bootleg stuff from HK.

EDIT:
quick look at some of the covers on the DVDs really raises some question
marks as to the legitimacy of those discs. Surefire way is to check the
readabillity of the back cover and subtitles... alot of the HK stuff is worse
than some 1st grader attempts at composition.

Aren't there bootlegs that also ripped the English dub audio tracks too?

Did some research...
Complete Collection thinpacks: 7 disc, ADV, Region1

Perfect Collection: 3 disc, all Region:

Though your front and inside covers look different. Because it's in the blooklet cover format and only 3 disc, I'd suspect it's the bootleg version, The Perfect Collection. If it is Region-All as well, then that's even more evidence that it's bootleg. I have the links to the 2 sale/product pages that I got those pictures from if I may post them, or PM someone. If they like.

Flipping a..its a boot. I looked on the inside cover and in itsy bitsy tineey weeny lettering it says
Publish by Manga Animation Cartoon DVD Inc.,
email: cartoon_mac@yahoo.com
Manufactured by Fansnear Animation Inc. Japan, Made in Japan

I found another forum where the guy had the same thing and it turned out to be a boot...I am going to see if I can return it and get a refund. Man that sucks..i am too nieve to be buying stuff on the internet..

Also the text on the back sounds like a bunch of garbage, it is really strange.

Good rule of thumb:

If it's too good to be true, then it's not true :)

Go figure. I gotta say though, they did a pretty good job putting it together, for a boot. Still, raise hell.

Heck flipping yes! I am getting my refund and I am going to get my hands on the real deal! And if the guy tries to refuse me I have both facts that its a bootleg and that it is not what he advertised. So Hell shall be raised if he tries anything
