(VoE) Be careful what you wish for? Chapter 2

I have finished all of Escaflowne this weekend. So now I know how it ended. However, therewill be changes made to that ending. I'm certain that all of you will not be disappointed in those changes


Oh yeah. I don't own Escaflowne. No people living or dead were hurt in this fic. Only Nazgul.



Jae got up and brushed of the dirt and debris from her blouse and jeans. She couldn't believe where she was at. One moment, she was in her home in Northern California surfing the web and chatting with friend, the next moment, she was on a dirt road in the middle of nowhere. She looked around and saw that she on a road that ran near some woods and went to the horizon across some fields. Then she saw something that shouldn't be possible. The crescent forms of the Earth and the Moon.

"This isn't possible. Isn't Gaea just fiction? Isn't it from some body's overactive imagination? " she said out loud. She looked around again and the scenery didn't change. She pinched herself to make sure she was awake. she could feel the pain. If she was in a dream, it was one that would take a while for her to get out. She looked around for any clue of how she got there. She saw a small daypack on the ground near her and some long knife. She went over and inspected the contents of the daypack. It a change of clothes (a t-shirt, jean shorts, some tennis shoes) a couple of water bottles, some food, and a simple flashlight. She looked around to see if anybody was around, but didn't see anybody.

"Looks like who or what sent me here, felt that I need some things. I don't know if I should be happy or pissed at this." she said as she picked up the daypack.

"HELLO, is anybody out there?" she yelled into the night sky. She waited for a minute for any response, but none came.

She wondered where she should go. She looked up and spotted the Big Dipper.

"Well, at least the stars are the same. Follow the two stars on the edge to the Pole stars, and viola. The North star. Well it look like the road goes from east to west. And since that is the east, " looking at the form of Earth and the Moon rising over the expanse of grassy fields. "I'm going to have a well lit night to figure out what I'm going to do."

*I wonder if any of the other have been transported here to Gaea. Why oh why couldn't we be in the same place. I'm not as good as the others at surviving in the wilderness.*

As she tried to formulate a plan for her survival and eventual return home, a shadow crossed over her. She looked up and over and saw a flying creature. It was making a dive for her. She decided quickly to dive for the ditch on the south side of the road. the creature swooped down and narrowly missed Jae as she entered the ditch. She realized that was a bad idea as the wood were to the north of the road.

she looked up and saw the form of her assailant. It had wings, a long neck, long tail and two legs. It form was similar to a Western Dragon, but much smaller. The creature landed on the road between her and the woods, trying to find her by sniffing the air with its tongue.

*Well at least he doesn't have good night vision. How am I going to get away from him?*

The creature continued to sniff the air, trying to find Jae to make her its next meal. However, the creature sniffed something that was outside its experience. It snake his head towards the woods to see if it could identify the smell, when a terrible noise rang thru the night air.

The next moment the creature took off, causing some loose debris to fly into the air as it tried to escape the new threat.

Jae instantly recognized the noise as a gunshot. She looked over the berm as saw three people over at the edge of the woods. She could tell that two had some sword out, while the third was looking up at the sky, pointing what was possibly the gun.

"I thought you said you could hit it, Hellfire." said one of the sword wielding people. The accent was similar to a German accent. She thought that had to be either Naz, or Tau.

"It moved its head just as I squeezed the trigger. Its been a while since I shot a pistol. " said Hellfire.

"Maybe you should let me do it, HF?" said the other sword wielding maniac.

"Only if you are going to pay the repair bill, Hot? " said Tau.

"Oh shit, its coming back for a pass." as Hellfire lifted the gun towards the sky. He tried to track the creature, but couldn't get a good shot. He knew that he had only 11 more shots then the pistol would be useless. He had no idea if there was any reloads in the forest, so he had to make sure that every shot count.

" Hey, guys. Over here." shouted Jae toward the Gun Bunnies.

Naz looked over at the other side of the road and saw a female waving to them. she was in the ditch on the other side of the road. Naz decided to run over to the other side of the road. However this was a bad idea as the creature made a slight adjustment and attacked Naz. It landed and tried to bite him, but he dodge the attack and tried to hit him with the katana. This only succeeded in scratching the creature. However, this allowed Hellfire to get a good bead on the creature. He shot at the right eye and hit it. This caused the creature to spasm form pain. However, it sent it tail toward Hellfire. Hellfire tried to move out of the way but took much of the force of the tail and sent flying in to the trees. Tau decided to charge the creature. He struck at the right wing. His strike was true and the wing was severed causing a large amount of blood to be released.


The Creature decided that Tau was its primary target and tried to snap at him, but missed as Tau jumped on its back. The creature decided to continue its attack at Tau, leaving Naz to strike at its underside. Naz obliged the creature by trying strike there but tripped over its severed wing, falling in to the ever expanding pool of blood.

Tau realized that Naz wasn’t going to help out, so he jumped of the back before he was going to be eaten. He struck at the base of the neck. He cleaved thru the neck, severing it form the rest of the body. This caused a large amount of blood to be spilled on Naz, who was still trying to getup. This of course didn’t help Naz, as he slipped from all the new blood released on him. The creature was now in spasms, but Tau could tell it was going to die soon. He looked over and saw Hellfire just getting up form his forced flying experiment. He then saw a female in a blue blouse, blue jeans, and a orange day back walking out of the ditch. He put his sword away and greeted the woman.

“You would be Jae, I presume?” said Tau as he bowed to Jae.

As Jae surveyed the damage done, she saw Hellfire walking over gingerly to them. She went over and steadied him with her arm. He looked as if he was hit by a baseball bat across the belly. She looked and saw Tau helping Naz out of the blood pool.

“ I thought you were practicing, Hot. You should have been able to take advantage of the strike. “ said Tau as made a face at the blood drenched Naz.

“Well, if you wouldn’t leave your handiwork an the ground for me to trip over, I would of.” said Naz as he looked around fro anything that would help him wash off the blood.

“And if you hadn’t decided to run across the road, you wouldn’t have become target number one for the reptile.” responded Hellfire. *At least I’ve got no broken ribs or my breathing would be painful. I don’t know if I have any internal bleeding, but only modern medicine would be able to tell, right of the bat.*

“Are any of you hurt?” said Jae with a concerned voice. She knew that if it wasn’t for these three fools, she would have been lunch. She looked at them, and wondered what brought all of them here.

“All I need is a long bath, and I will be fine, Jae” said Naz as he was using Tau’s shirt to wipe his face.

“Will you stop that, Hot. My shirt is not your towel.” as Tau pushed Naz out of the way.

“We need to see if there is any more gifts from home in the woods, guys.” said Hellfire. “I have now 10 bullets for the Beretta and since I do not know how to use a sword, I don’t want to be around helpless when that reptile’s friend come here.”

“But how can we search those woods. It is dark as cave in there.” said Naz as he tried to look for some more wiping material to get this sticky smelly blood off of him.

“Would this help?” as Jae produced the flashlight from her daypack and turned it on. She walked over to the woods. “Are you boys coming? Aren’t you going to protect this poor damsel from those nasty creature’s again.?” as she walked into the woods.
Hellfire, Nazgul, and Tau looked at each other. Their faces were bewilderment. Then t it dawned on them.

“AND if you stare at my ass, I’m going to knock you into next week.” said Jae from the woods.

*not like it just stand out, Jae* thought Tau.

“I heard that, Tau. Use those eyeballs for something else.” exclaimed Jae.

Tau just shook his head. That was Jae, the Animal Tamer of the board. Life on Gaea wasn’t going to be boring after all.

if i knew what was going on with the little group i am in.
if i knew the basic story line then yes i would be more than happy to take a swing!
because i dont want to be blamed for messing up the story.
as i so often am.

i wont turn it into a gag fic, i like writing and take it too seriously to do that.

...actually, I've never fired a gun before in my life, Bel. Huh, maybe
it's a sideeffect of the crossover to Gaea or something? Glad to
hear you got to finish VoE; hope at least SOME of it was to your liking.
