Andes Mountains, Colombian-Peruvian border
Tessa exited the copter and was greeted by the humidity of the area. She was hurried over to Kallinin as the copter was being filled with wounded.
"I hope the flight wasn't bad, Captain." said the graying Russian.
"I didn't notice, Major. Your report consumed my attention. What actually happened here?" she asked as she scanned the field she landed on. A number of downed Mechas and armored vehicles were struned over the battlefield. She couldn't believe that anybody could survive this carnage. Her thoughts drifted to the AS duel with Melissa. She could barely function in that fight, griped by fear and the quickness of action needed in that fight. That fight was with paint guns and rubber blades. Here she saw the destructive power of those AS's and other equipment. Another thought came to her. How could the FARC get this much equipment and be this proficent at it? She felt that the last year was too quiet and knew that the new year would be bad, very bad.
"Ah, Captain, did you her anything I said?" said Kalinin.
" I'm sorry, Kalinin. I was thinking about the horror of war and my very brief time in it. It is amazing and terrifing that any human could function in that enviroment." said the petite young lady.
The Russian put a strained smile on. "I guess this is your first time seeing this destructiveness first hand. For me, I have been accustomed to it, so for me I just not think about it. However, I do see your point. I guess that is how I deal with it. I push it aside." a brief pause came over the two. Then the crackle of thunder and the skies opened up.
"If its not raining, its not training, my drill sergeant said" as Melissa, Kurz, and Souske walked up to the to commanders.
"Report Sergent Major." commanded the Russian.
"Mission accomplised, sir. All twenty hostages are here and accouynted for. Only two M9s, mine and Kurz, are operational along with Souske's Arbelast. The other nine M9s are OOC. 3 pilots and 12 soliders are dead and 4 pilots and 12 soliders are injured. Enemy loses are 12 Savages, 12 T-64s, 15 BTRs and 3 Napoleons. " Melissa sounded off.
'Napoleons' thought Tessa as Melissa continued.
"Those bastard Frogs are doing again. They are selling thier high tech stuff to any one. Those 3 Mechs took down 6 M9s with some kind of new weapon."
At this time Souske collapsed into exhaustion and fell, right into Tessa's arms. Tessa was horrified about Souske.
How could this happen? He's not injured is he? Why is he not moving? as Kurz and Melissa took Souske from her arms. Kallinin was saying something as Tessa felt a slick coolness on her arms. She looked down as saw blood. Souske's blood.
'This not supposed to be happening. He' s not supposed to die' thought Tessa as Kurz, Melissa, and Kalinin were doing what they could to stop the bleeding.
