“Black Rain is a mission with severe losses, I guess you could say Helmajestan was a Black Rain for I was the only survivor.”
Chapter 2: New Dawn
0600 Hours
“Your mission is to make it out, Sousuke.’ Aahh, damn, that dream still haunts me.” Sousuke stood from his bed, glancing over at the clock he knew he had time to kill, “I guess I will take my shower now, I have one hour to prepare myself for Kaname, I hope she doesn’t use that fan any more.” He picked up the picture of Kaname and Tessa that she left with him, down at the right side in bright red writing it said, ‘Hey Sousuke, If I don’t see you again please remember me always, love Kaname.’
Back at Kaname’s apartment she dreamt of her summer memories that Sousuke never gave her, “oh, I could have had such a good time with him but, I did find out that Sousuke have some sort of feelings toward me. Well I guess that will have to do... for now,” she smiled and looked towards the picture she had Kurtz take of the two of them.
“That was a fun time, the party back then. Sousuke finally took a picture with me, so nervous though. Well I guess I should pack something for him, I mean it has been two months since the beginning of the school year.” Just then Kaname remember something, she glanced over at her paper fan, dusty and unused, so neglected. “That reminds me, he never did call me, only once during that time period. Errrrrrrrr...” She decided to let it go because he was a soldier and a guys got to do what a guys got to do, “but what if he has a girlfriend, damn you SOUSUKE,” just then an evil grin streaked across her face, “I may have a use for that fan after all, hehehe.”
Just then the doorbell rang, “oh that must be Sousuke, let see how he likes it when I make him wait,” she smiled and plopped down on her couch.
“Kaname please open your door.”
“NO.” Sousuke stood in shock outside Kaname’s room.
“Why not Miss Chidori?”
“BECAUSE, you made me wait so long for you to show up or even CALL ME SOMETIME!!!” Sousuke sighed and opened the door, face to face with a now extremely frustrated Kaname, “HOW THE HELL DID YOU GET IN HERE.” Sousuke held up a small key, “Hey what’s that?”
“The spare key you gave me, you said that if I ever was in Japan I was welcome to stay here anytime I wanted.” Kaname blushed.
“Oh yeah, I did say that,” she glanced over at the clock, “OH MY GOD, WE ARE GOING TO BE LATE!!” Sousuke laughed, ‘so out of character.’
“Let’s take Arbalest.”
“WHAT!!”
“Major Kalinin granted me permission to use it in Japan,” just then Kaname smacked him in the back of the head with her infamous paper fan. “Um Kaname that hurt, why did you hit me?”
“Because you idiot, we have to go the normal way, it would look kind of weird with signs flying of its hinges with nothing in sight destroying it.” She gave Sousuke a small smile, “lets hurry, ok?”
“Yea... But we are on the fourth floor, here take my hand.”
“What, whyyyiieee...” Sousuke opened the glass door to the balcony and grabbed her hand, closing it he leapt off the ledge, “What, what are you doing.” As they fell Sousuke shot a grapple to her balcony and slowly lowered the two.
“Are you all right Kaname, if we hurry we can still make...” Kaname began to pound Sousuke’s head.
“Because you idiot, you could have killed me, but,” her smile reassured him it was ok, “it just wasn’t the same with out you around.” Sousuke smiled and grabbed her by the hand, “c’mon Sousuke, let’s hurry and go to school.”
“Yes Ma’ma.” And so they ran in the direction of the school, Sousuke and Kaname hand in hand.
“So Kashime, she is you muse, no wonder you were able to beat me all those times. You are truly my son, but if you marry her she will bring nothing but pain just like your mother did. The whispered don’t make good wives, or children, HAHAHAHA!!!”
0800 Hours
As the school bells ring Sousuke was in trouble already, “damn Sousuke, it’s the same problem as last year,” she pulled out a mark 23 pistol, two grenades, and a picture of Kaname which he quickly snatched up, the teacher just smiled. “Now for the last time Sousuke, please don’t bring any more toys.”
“Affirmative Ma’am.” He saluted her and walked into the school followed by Kaname, and Kyouko.
“Wow, what a weird way to say yes, humph,” the teacher turned back towards Kaname, “you take care of him this year, alright?”
Kaname sighed then she put on her famous smile “yes teacher, I’ll make sure Sousuke doesn’t do anything stupid like last year.”
“Thank you Miss Chidori.”
“You’re welcome Miss Teacher.” As the pair walked in to the school they began to wish they hadn’t. “Oh my god Sousuke!” Kaname dropped her books at the sight of Sousuke interrogating a male student staring at Kaname. She dashed over and grabbed Sousuke by the ear and brought him to a corner. “What the hell are you thinking?”
“Well Kaname, I thought that he was interested in you. He looked as though he wanted to abduct you, he strangely looked like someone in the KGB.” POUND, Kaname smacked Sousuke across the back of his head, shortly knocking him out.
“Oooh, Sousuke, you are so clueless.” Steam started to shoot out of Kaname’s ears, stomping away, Kyouko could only help out Sousuke.
“She really likes you Sousuke, she was so depressed when you were gone.” Sousuke was amazed at Kyouko’s observations, had Kaname really missed him during his time at MITHRIL training facilities.
“Did she? I get the impression that she didn’t want me back.” He glanced over to Kaname, now deep in a conversation with her teacher.
“Oh Sousuke, which reminds me, did you get all the same classes as Kaname again?” He glanced up Kyouko.
“No, I don’t have the same science.”
“Oh that’s too bad, you know she really wants to be with you.” Kyouko smiled and gave Sousuke his things back, then came Kaname.
“No I don’t, I could never...” Kaname just glanced away from Sousuke, making sure she did not make eye contact. “I’m sorry,” she put on her best smile, “let’s get to class.”
Well in to the day a man in black approached the school, “well so this is where he attends school.” He entered the school and approached the administration, “hello, I am here about my son, his name, well, his name is Sousuke Sagara.”
“Alright, Mr. ...”
“Gauron, my name is Gauron Sagara.”
“Alright, we will call Sousuke to the front.” An evil smirk came over Gauron’s face.
“Tell him to bring his little girlfriend too. Tell him bring Miss Kaname Chidori.” He walked out of the office, he pulled out a 9mm silenced pistol, “Oh Kashime, daddy is going to make sure no one can use you ever, but Miss Kaname, well. I think her and me will become good friends.”
Sousuke was sitting in class at attention when he heard his name on the p.a. system. “Mr. Sagara, Miss Chidori, please come to the administration office, you both have a visitor.” Gauron glanced up at the stairs, he thought to himself, ‘should be anytime now, but should I kill son, or take out that girl.’
Sousuke met up with Kaname in the hallway. He glanced over at Kaname, “stop!”
She merely gave him a look of disgust, “why should I?”
“Because, why would a visitor come for me, I mean no one from MITHRIL would show up unless I was needed and communications were down.” He glanced back at the stairs, “I know that you are going to say that the visitor may be for you but think, why would they ask for me?”
“Don’t over react,” she smiled, “probably, it is just a new student that they want me to take around, they want me to keep an eye on you, how ironic.”
“Well, just wait please. I want to see who is there first.”
“Oh, alright Mr. Sagara.” Sousuke nodded and walked towards the stairs, slowly he pulled a silenced SP-10 handgun from its holster. ‘Better be prepared for anything,’ Sosuke thought. He crept up to the railing of the stairs and poked his head out, ‘holy shit, is that Gauron.’
Crackle, “what was that?” Gauron glanced over at the stairs. Sousuke let out a sigh of relief, ‘I hope he didn’t notice. He signaled for Kaname to stay where she was, taking one more glance to make sure Gauron was still there, he dashed for Kaname.
“Kaname, our visitor is not a good person.” A look of worry came over Kaname’s face as she saw Sousuke motion for her to keep quiet. He lowered himself to her ear and whispered in, “our visitor is Gauron, I need to get you back to the safe house.”
“But won’t that be...” Sousuke cut her.
“Be quiet, I have a new safe house in the house behind your apartments, it’s an actual base where I can store Arbalest.” He gave her a serious look, “I know you care about school, but I care about you and I want to keep Gauron away from you.” Kaname gave Sousuke a weird look, she was flushed red, “and look Kaname. I know you may not believe me so I will explain when we get to the safe house.”
“Ok Sousuke, let’s go.” She smiled and grabbed his hand.
“So where are we heading Chidori?” Sousuke was confused that Kaname had taken charge.
“Where you can get us out of here quietly, we are going to the roof.”
“Smart thinking Kaname.” Kaname glanced back and smiled.
“Well I did learn from the best.”
“Kaname, let’s hurry. No telling when Gauron will come in search of us, no more small talk.” Kaname nodded yes. Finally they made it to the roof, and using the same tactic from this morning he launched of the roof, he shot grapple to the roof ledge. After a few minutes of running Sousuke and Kaname made it to the safe house.
“Kaname, I am going to phone into HQ so they can send Kurtz and Mao to help, I...” Kaname grabbed his ear and talked into it.
“No Sousuke, I want to know everything, you must have left out something.”
“Everything?”
“Yes Sousuke.” Sousuke sighed, he glanced at Kaname and then to the floor.
“Fine. Major Kalinin informed me of four things the other day, one of the new information made me, can you say happy. He told me I would be stationed here, to protect you from the KGB. The others, well, are very depressing.” Kaname felt weird, she wanted to tell Sousuke to stop but, if was important they had to know.
“I was given news about my family.”
“But how could that be bad news?” She knew something was up with Sousuke, he never got so depressed before, just then she saw something that would make any one in the world change their minds about Sousuke. A single tear trickled down his face, halting at his scar.
“Kalinin informed me that they had received info on my family a couple days ago. They were slaughtered a couple years ago, by...... by my father.” Sousuke broke out in tears, something so unlike himself that it shook Kaname to the core.
“Sousuke...” She pulled Sousuke into a deep hug, “please don’t cry, I want you to stay strong. You never let me cry, you always told me that they were not worth it, to stay strong, for you. Don’t give up on me.”
“Kaname, the worst news is that, Gauron is, he is my father.”
“WHAT!”
Sousuke glanced up at Kaname, eyes full of tears. She held him tighter, “I guess it’s my turn to protect you Sousuke, I can finally repay your kindness.” She smiled and kissed his forehead, Sousuke glanced at her confused, ‘should I tell him?’ She closed in on his ear and whispered in the softest voice, “Sousuke, don’t leave me ever, I want you to stay here, with me. I felt so lonely when you left... I guess what I am trying to say Sousuke is that I...”
Sousuke smiled, “I know.”
“Know what?” Kaname was confused, how could he know something that no one has spoken of. “How.”
“Kyouko told me, she said I needed to hear it from her since you wouldn’t tell me. She said that it seemed the longer you kept it in, the more depressed you become when I leave. I guess it’s a fair price for you telling her I am with MIRTHRIL.” Sousuke held Kaname close to him, she never thought that the war-crazed maniac Sgt. could ever be romantic. “So do I have your permission?”
Kaname became confused once again, she giggled a bit, wondering why he asked for her permission. “Permission for what Sousuke?”
“To kiss you.” Kaname thought to herself ‘WHAT! Is Sousuke really asking to kiss me, should I?’ She blushed, remembering the time she told him he needed permission to kiss a girl. Kaname was sure it would not feel so great but, ‘the way he said it, it made it sound like he really wanted it.’
She turned and smiled at Sousuke, “so is that a yes?”
“Yea.” Sousuke grinned, gently gliding Kaname to the couch. Carrying her and softly laying Kaname on the couch, he gently brushed his lips along hers. ‘Oh my god, this is great. It’s just like those soap opera’s when something bad happens but it always ends up good. This is what I wanted from him,” Kaname was blushing madly, not able to wait any longer. She threw her arms around Sousuke’s neck and pulled him into her.
“God Sousuke, when did you learn how to do this?” She deepened this kiss, actual passion and desire was in the mix.
When Sousuke came up for air he smiled, “it’s a faint memory, but late at night when I was about five years old I saw my mother and father. I could never make out their faces but, I knew they loved each other.”
“You loved her didn’t you.” She continued to hold on to Sousuke.
“Yea, as much of her as I can remember, I also had a sister. She was about a year or two younger than. I could never remember because I barely knew any of my family.” He gave her a fake smile.
“Sousuke, how bout we just focus on the two of us okay.”
“Affirmative, Kaname...”
