Tessa looked at the photos and reports that were on her desk. She tried to get the images out of her mind, but she couldn't. The cloud of death seen from that camera would be engraved in her mind til the day she died. She estimated that the weapon used was about one kiloton, and had vaporized a 3 mile area at the New York/Vermont border. Form conservative estimates about 10,000 lives had already been lost and another 50,000 was in innement danger. A noreaster was heading into the area the next 24 hours would complicate things immensly. She wondered if she did everything right as she looked at the photo of the area. A knock on the door brought her back to reality.
Kallinin came in with another packet and sat down across from her desk.
"When will the world end?" asked Tessa. She knew that the nuclear powers were ready to launch and any muscle spasm could bring Amageddon.
"Not this day, Captain. The US has just downgraded to DEFCON 3. The Soviet Union has just recipocated. The other swill do so in the next hour.
Already, 100 nation have issued thier condolences on the attack and the security council has just been called into emergency session." said the Russian SpecFor officer.
"It make no sense. Why would FARC attack that area of the US? Why not hit the big cities? " said Tessa in a somewhat terse voice.
This surprise Kallinin. He heard of some thing about the Whispered from Souske, but never saw it personally. He wondered how Tessa could figure out that the target of the missiles were that area of the US and no the Big cities of the Eastern Seabaord. Kallinin surpressed the urge to break Tessa out of her reveire. Maybe she could shed some light on who did this, because Kallinin knew that the FARC wouldn't do it. If the FARC wanted to stop the US involvement in the Colombian civil war, they would have used one on a Colombian instalation and threated with rest.
Tessa looked up at Kallinin with determiantion in her eyes. "We need to go to the launch site and look for some clues. I have a feeling that we just found something that will make ALQueda look like a bunch of children."
Kallinin smiled as he handed the packet over to Tessa. " I have only looked at the photos of the site but I'm certain that you can deduce thier importance."
"There was 10 launchers." excalimed Tessa. "But only four missles launched. No wait a minute five launched, then four........"
"It would appear that some US Seals found thier way to the area and made thier presence felt." Kallinin said as Tessa flipped thru the photos.
She found the one that Kallinin was mentioning. One the IR, 10 flaming container trucks and one sign. "USN was here, R3". She didn't under stand why they did that. The US Seals were supposed to be silent hunters, not boisterous like these were.
"They are showing the world that there are heros left in the world. Or at least they think so. In the packet is the dossier on the team of Seals that are in Colombia, right now. It would seem that this team has been very busy the last six months. they were the one who fought the Serbs in Serbinca."
" One team of Seals beat the best divison the Bosinian Serbs had. That's impossible." said Tessa with disbeilf. Withe the Soviet Union leaving Eastern Europe in the late 80's, most of those nation threw of the yoke of communism. Except Yugoslavia, where Tito lived until recnetly. when he died the nation burst in to civil war quickly. the Biggest flashpoint was Bosnia, where the Islamic Bosnians, Catholic Craots and Orthodox Serbs decided to even the score with one another. In Serbernica, Un peacekeeper were rounded up by the elite of the Serb forces, and forced to see as the Serbs decieded that the current residents were to be evicted. Then, NATO warplanes hit the area hard and the UN keeppers were rescued as the divisaon ceased to exist. Many Serbs stated that when ever it seemed that ther tanks were started that a missile or bomb hit them.
"It started as one but thats all it takes to start some problems. After all, with the UN peacekeeper no longer being used as human sheilds and the team was pinpointing the targets, the Serbs never had a chance." as Kallinin smiled.
"But if that's the case, why are they in Colombia?" said Tessa in disbelif.
"They are being taught a lesson in following orders." samiled Kallinin.
"Huh?"
The smiled widened on Kallinin. This was scareing Tessa more then she wanted to believe. "It would seem that they acted without orders to engage the Serbs. Considering that Colombia is considered to be the worst place in the world, the Special Forces Command is trying to teach them not to disobey orders. It would seem that thay are slow learners."
" Makenzie???????!!!!!!!!!" said Tessa.
"I thought that would get your attention. It would seem the older brother of your brothers former partner is the leader of this team. It would seem that unorthodox action are genetic in the Makenzie's case." Kallinin continued smiling.
" I've met him in August of 2001, when my brother and his brother stopped their partnership. He was somewaht withdrawn, but considerate." said Tessa as she mused over what fates were doing.
"Command believes him to be a hot head, however I disagree." said Kallinin.
" Why would you disagree? " as Tessa flipped thru the rest of the report.
" It takes one to know one." as Kallinin got up.
" Do you think you can find him in that jungle?" tessa said with a smile. Not a sweet smile but one that fit a preadator.
" You want to met him?" as Kallinin brought an eyebrow up.
"I believe he has some info that would enlightnen this entrie affair. After all, its not everyday I get to met a man who save millions of lives?" said Tessa.
"The area is dangerous, Captain." said Kallinin.
"Only when I get there. " Tessa punched the bridge up on her phone. " Get us to the surface and prepare for flight observations. We are going hunting for the Four Horsemen."
Mardukas barked the orders and the bridge crew got jumping to carryout thier captian orders. It was time to hit back. And with thier Captian leading the charge, even the Gods themselves would get out of the way.
