[Fic] Thoughts of You

The inevitable disclaimer: No, I don’t own Full Metal Panic! Yes, I wish I owned Sousuke and Kaname, but I realize they belong to some nice creative folks in Japan, who can keep Tessa for all I care. This is not meant to challenge any copyrights, but as my way of showing my love of the series.

Thoughts of You
By Samantha
Chidori, what have you done to me?
I find my mind wandering to thoughts of you,
In class, during a mission,
Whenever I least expect it.
I was a soldier,
Never letting emotion interfere
If I even had emotions
Before I met you.
Are these emotions
What my former enemy,
Now my mentor,
Kalinin, meant when he asked me
What I learned from my mission protecting you?
I thought he wanted to show me
What I missed,
Living the life
I have lived,
Willing to die for my employer.
But did he desire me to learn
Of matters relating to the heart,
How to care for another
Outside the duty of comrades in arms?
Before I fought
Because I was a soldier,
Ordered to kill.
Now I fight to protect you.
You and my comrades, Mao and Kurtz.
But most of all you, Chidori.
Does that make me no longer a soldier?
I fight to protect you now,
Willing to disobey my orders
If they put you in danger.
What does it make me, Chidori?
I have lost all what I thought I knew.
Am I still who I was?
Am I someone else now?
Do you know, Chidori?
I thought I knew,
But you turned my world upside down,
Like the day I picked up a gun to protect myself,
And found myself on the path I was on
Before I met you.
I have no regrets, Chidori,
Because when I am with you,
It feels like I can do anything.
Whether it is catching a big one,
Or escaping from a terrifying danger.
It is because you exist,
That I am here right now.
Please stay with me for a while.
