Full Metal Panic vs Ruonin Kenshin
You guys, in Kenshin theres this guy named "Sagara Sanosuke." Maybe Sagara is a popular first name in Japan, but hell even the last names kinda resemble. Neone know why? or is this pure coincidence.

Well, Sagara Sanosuke, remember in Japanese, they say the family name first. His given name is Sanosuke. He changed his family name to Sagara.
I think it's just coincidence that that Sousuke and Sanosuke's names sound the same. Maybe authors like having both family and given names of characters to start with the same consonants. Look at the other characters: Tessa Testarosa, Melissa Mao, Kamiya Kaoru.
I have volumes 1 and 2 of Kenshin manga (Viz, English) and there's character profiles in them about why the author chose the character designs. Sanosuke was just modeled after the real life Sanosuke (different guy/family name) of the Shinsen Gumi. Maybe in the FMP mangas or some other interviews, the author explained why he chose Sagara Sousuke as the name for his lead character.

Sanosuke and Sousuke are both really popular first names in Japan. I believe both characters having "Sagara" as a last name was just a coincidence. For Rurouni Kenshin, "Sagara" was used as a historical reference to a real character in history. In Full Metal Panic, the name was probably chosen because it aliterates.
It's entirely possible that Sousuke was given his name as a tribute to Sanosuke from Rurouni Kenshin- manga authors often do things like that in order to give praise to a respected sempai. However, I don't know if that's the case here.

What I want to know is, if you're drawing the parallels between Sousuke and Sano, why does Sousuke have the VERY kenshin-esque "x" scar on his cheek?
(So does Ferio from Rayearth.... but I'm getting ahead-a meself....)
