Wow. Very cool stuff. Now I REALLY want to read the volumes of the novels that we're missing.

This confirms something I was afraid of though. It seems that there really are only 8 volumes to the manga. Disappointing. I was hoping that at least in Japan they'd continued on with adapting the rest of the novels.

The manga is still being published.

Vol 9 just isn't out yet, but should be out within a couple of months based on past release dates. Each volume is roughly 6 months apart or so.

No idea. Sure hope so. Vol 9 will finish the manga version of the last story arc in the first series. Maybe someone with access to the anthology it runs in knows about it continuing after.

But the release schedule is so slow, a potential vol 10 won't be out until the end of the year, and the story pacing is also a bit sluggish for those hungry for post-anime stuff. I have taken the 'enjoy what we have' position on it....

I don't mind. As long as I know it'll eventually be out, I can wait. Plus, my favorite aspect of the manga is the high school hijinks anyway since it's missing from the first season and we're not really seeing it in the novel translations.

So I don't mind the slow pace if they flesh it out close to as much as the novels do. The anime, as good as it is, really doesn't get as deep into the characters as the other two mediums.
