Could the 'animation' bit on the COMO novel be referring to TSR?
Jae, you have a point there... T_T

Anyways, this is the COMO cover with the obi:

See the words in the circle. What say you?

Then this is the insert that came in the novel:

you're right... it does seems COMO is in advanced stages of planning for an animated series. Interesting but does this means they're skipping DVMC? I really wanted to see that animated as well....

So TSR has lot of fan service and that just one of them... Why did they go to that direction and started using too much fan service?

Since the main target of sales would be the pervertus maleus piggus
It's only natural to include fanservice.

"Can I help you?, "you know this section is.." she broke off her sentence as the man walked towards her and nodded, "I think you can Captain".
Tessa looked down, "I haven't been called Captain in 4 years," Wha..what do you want?"
He gave her a devious grin, "I'm here to make sure you keep your promise."

so far I haven't noticed any fanservice is TSR... not counting the morning
scene with those twins. Then again, I'm too busy drooling over the
military / mech side of things :-D

Heh. Well, there was that whole thing with Kaname waking up and being all sleepy. Dunno if that counts. And that thing with Tessa moaning and touching herself while thinking of Kaname and Whispered, lol. Mostly it's those sisters though, almost too bad that they have to die.

Ah well, looking at the pictures is enough for me, might be more like gazing though. To me there are 2 kinds of fan service, messed up ones and those that are ok. TSR and the other Full Metal Panic! series pretty much have ok fan service, so too much isn't a problem unless it continuously affects the story line. But TSR is really going for the fan service, but then again it has so much action, especially AS.

And Kaname trying to shake off her persuer, if you count that. It was strange though. They were okay with showing the breasts on the twins, but were careful to hide Kaname's. I thought it was interesting.

There might have been a number of reasons for the animators intentionally diverting Kaname's breasts from view.

For one, Kaname herself is very modest, and would be highly careful to remain unexposed if at all possible. Although it was not her own will which diverted the camera from any riske angles, it does reflect her character's modesty and concern for decency--which the twins would be indifferent to. I can't see either of the assassins honestly caring about indecent exposure. To them, I think modesty would be a foreign and meaningless consideration--their entire purpose solely revolving around their 'missions'.
I think probably another reason that Kaname remained unexposed was because it maintains a level of purity and innocence which Kaname's character also portrays--and in which the twins clearly do not.
Just some theories, nothing more. None-the-less, I approved of the choice to leave Kaname...up to the imagination.
Kurama: "You've done well so far all by yourself."
Sousuke: "That's not true. You idiots have been lining up for me."

Perhaps it was due to the fact that the animators don't want to 'abuse' her, so to speak... I know she's not real, but all the same, it's worth to consider since it would somehow feel wrong...
Also...exposing someone in the nude, apart from being fanservice, is also a symbol...Kaname is, while being nearly completely naked, still resillient, still fighting, still retains dignity... Being completely exposed creates connotations to being unprotected, and she definately isn't that...

This is also proof that the design team does not include fanservice for the sake of fanservice, but uses thematics like nudity in order to create a richer expression...

Hm. Actually, both your theories make sense to me. In fact, I kinda like it. Though they could have gotten away with it with the more mature rating, I'm glad they decided not to include unnecessary nudity into the story. And I rather like the image they maintain with Kaname. Whether it was their intention or not, I like the effect it created and the dignity their work showed.

yay! :-D

But yeah, I think they did it correctly...it's not as if there's been much fanservice, like, it's not exactly like the series has been 'soaked' in it or anything...

Also, I shall have the last episode in very shortly...I can't help but write about it...because I'm dying of anticipation here...
