Leonard definitely looks Kurtz-ish there. Is it just me, or does Chidori look almost like a small child in that pic? It made me wonder if a part of the story was going to delve into her tragic past. Note that Leonard's cape is off..SHOOT HIM! SHOOT HIM NOW! LOL Ah well, bring on the spoilers! We've been waiting soooo long..

The bloodspats seem like a stylistic choice as if we're looking through the stained wall behind Leonard.

3. AT LAST! In the critical moment Sousuke was saved by a surprising figure.
AL:"Please let me re-enter into your war."

Why for gods sake did they re-use the AI of the ARX-7 .. ? This makes no sense.
All info that is / was available indicated that the AI/Sousuke combo was
something irreversible.

Amalgam Techie: "Hey this AI is showing these strange engrams"
Mr. Gold: "Duuude just ignore those, just make the ARX-8 Battle ready and we will deal with that techie stuff later, now where is my cat ?"

He might've kept other people in the dark about AL, as seemingly he was also the one who not-quite-so scuttled the ARX-7.

I suspect our russian Borsjt specialist turned over to Almagam when he foresaw the inevitable ass whooping that Mithril was about to get.
He bought himself some loyalty, since he new it wouldn't change the outcome.
With this newfound trust he could act as an embedded agent, working secretly on the Phoenix rising of Mithril elements, while also making sure that Kaname was kept alive.

And it's a little late to introduce yet another organization.

it makes no sense whatsoever that amalgam would rebuild arx-8, especially when, from this new chapter, it sounds as if whoever rebuilt it intentionally kept AL for sousuke

my guess is that it's some part of mithril that was not attacked/destroyed by amalgam (we all assumed mithril was annialated because of no radio contact with donnan, but there could well have been people hiding away) or some organization closely affliated with mithril (afterall you wouldn't attempt to keep "world peace" without making some friends)

by the way, i think the way amalgam could destroy mithril bases so quickly and efficiently was because they had inside information from high rank mithril officier, and remember how kalinin met with leonard at the end of "DVMC"? i think kalinin provided the information but i don't think he gave up everything, and even though he betrayed mithril i don't think he has "turned to the dark side" so to speak, i think the reason he did what he did was because he saw what amalgam was planning and to provide these information about major mithril bases was the only way to hide some others away, and it also explains how he gained amalgam's trust so quickly... and any doubts i had with this theory was erased by his reaction to kaname accidentally shooting leonard in this new chapter

and it really isn't too late to introduce new organization, well, not entirely new but organizations that were mentioned before but didn't play any significant role until now: they introduced french intelligence last book, and the americans only just came in the picture in the last chapter with them joining in on the attack on the mansion... so who knows, maybe it's chinese intelligence (whom mithril helped before by stopping another civil war in hong kong) or even the japanese (since they recovered arblast's wreckage)

and not just organizations, i think gatou would even introduce new whispered abilities or knowledge, afterall he said there's still 2 or 3 books to go

Until now the whole storyline implies, that since Bunny kicked the bucket Mithril isn't able to make LD capable Armed Slaves.
So based on this, there is only one other organisation who does have the resources to create LD capable AS'es and that is Amalgam.

i think gatou would even introduce new whispered abilities or knowledge

I would find it rather insulting to the reader to come up with such a quick fix just to give Sousuke his new toy.

It would be more amusing if Mithril had infiltrated Amalgam R&D... Oooooh tze irony.

that's much more of a speculation than a fact: remember where the last whispered person was located? (hint: she died as a hostage)

i kinda expect one day there'd be a scene in this story much like how xavier showed logan in xmen3 in cerebro those red dots and said "we are not as alone as you think" XD

again, much more of a speculation than a fact: Bunny was the only one who made a LD capable AS, nowhere in the book does it say that he was the only one who COULD make one. Mithril had mutilple whispered people under protection, including kaname and the girl sousuke rescued at the very beginning of the story... oh yah, if i remembered right, Donnan's captain's a whispered too :p

there are many reasons beside "Bunny's the only one who's smart enough" that made ARX-7 the only LD capable AS in mithril: they don't want to abuse the technology; lack of qualified pilots since they don't want to drug their pilots for it; they don't want to disturb normal lifes of people like kaname; etc etc etc... maybe it's strange to think a mercenary army would have morals, but just look at how they've been treating kaname

another reason might be that since sousuke has been single handedly kicking their butts so easily that they underestimate amalgam (remember how surprised mithril was about the extend to amalgam's capabilities when they launched the all out attack?) and therefore the need to develope more LD capable AS's, i mean i imagine these things would cost a lot of money and man power

me too, but i did not say these "new whispered abilities or knowledge" should be to fix any plot holes because i've not seen any plot holes yet, instead i hope these new abilities/knowledge will be introduced to develope the story into even more fascinating areas, and i'm greatly looking forward to how kaname will play her role in this conflict as a whispered because right now she's nothing more than a gem everyone is trying to get their hands on

My impressions of what's happening:

1) It's mentioned, I believe, that Bunny was the LD-AS genius of Mithril. It's also mentioned that the Lambda Driver in Arbalest is incomlpete and inferior to the Lambda Driver in the Codarl and Codarl-M. Mithril's M9Ds were built with the intention of being R&D testbeds for the Arbalest, as well as being capable of mounting Lambda Drivers should more Lambda Drivers be built.

2) IIRC, at the end of BOMF, Hunter and Wraith met, Wraith with the hard drive carrying Al, and Hunter with the ARX-8. Also, regarding Whispereds: in DVMC, it's stated that each Whispered's knowledge is highly specialised. Leonard's is to Arm Slaves, Tessa's is to submarines. No two Whispereds will share the same knowledge.

3) Earlier on in TMMD, Kalinin shows Leonard what appears to be the wreckage of an ARX-8, and Leonard is unimpressed, stating that they're still using the M9 frame (the Arbalest is based off the M9 frame, which is why it's compatible with all M9 weapons).

4) Judging from what I undertand, the ARX-8 was completed by a Mithril spilnter group. The other reason? Amalgram found it in its unfinished state, and finished building it, because it's good to have variety in your forces, and because there appears to be implications that the ARX-8 would be a step up in Arm Slave warfare, above the Arbalest (possibly, it's a challenger to the Belial).

Okay, some meat for the hounds... Kaname shot Leonard through a misfire (serves him right for trying to play Russian Roulette with her), but not fatally, and she and Leonard are captured by Kalinin anc co. The new Amalgam AS is named after yet another demon, with a maid piloting one of them ( ), Al is back and quirky as ever, the Uruz team is trying to kick ass... have fun.

Red/White colour scheme, heat rod on head, totally-imbalanced handcannon? Damnit, Gatou, Kyosuke Nanbu is going to Trump Card your rear for that.

(Note: Speculating, but Leonard is either going to die or change allegiances shortly. The mood feels right. Also, the feeling that Kalinin's actually still siding with Mithril seems slightly stronger, but that's just me.)
