It would be great if they would translate the fmp novels or better let Brandi send in her translation.
With COTS they used fanconsultants for the first time, I hope they will do the same with FMP .. atleast splat bullets will be out of the question if they do..
Then again it took 10 years before the first official COTS novel translation .. So an ETA on FMP would be around 2008 ~ 2009 <g>

As much as I liked the series, I have to say the first GitS novel was pretty stale...
Only other anime-based novel I read aside from that was the MSG novelization. Didn't like that either, since I thought the whole White Base crew was made a little too... uh, randy then they should be.
I read Battle Royale, but, IIRC, that came before the manga and stuff. Dunno if it would qualify as "anime based" in that case...
It didn't feel I was cheated out of my money.
But I'm highly biased when it comes to the GiTS universe.

I hear Tokyopop's bringing the 12 Kingdoms novels to the US in 2007. I highly recommend them because the anime adaptation was made of win, and if the source material > adaptation... you're in for a treat.
