hmm saw this while browsing through my megami....

http://member.toei-anim.co.jp/animeister/iriya/

ok saw this at animenfo(the story):On the last day of the summer break, Asaba Naoyuki sneaked into the school pool at night. Then, he met a mysterious girl, Iriya Kana, who embedded a shiver ball in her wrist.
When the next term began, Iriya transferred to Asaba’s class.
She seemed to have trouble in communicating to others, but she opened her mind to Asaba, and she began to have good terms with him through the school lives. However, she was frequently called by the teachers, and she sometimes made strange reactions.
Every time she caught the trouble, Enomoto, a mysterious man in black suit appeared. Did she have a destiny she couldn’t escape from and a serious assignment?
The mysteries of an important military base city, Sonohara, and UFO incident that the school newspaper was pursuing, were come to light through the existence of a special fighter “Black Manta”, the pilot of the plane, and a guard unit.
Now, a heart-rending “UFO summer” of Iriya and Asaba begins…

CO2A seems to have this curse where his artwork kicks ass, but the anime series they're related to end up, well, sucking.

This sounds like it could be interesting, though, so I hope it doesn't suffer from said curse. Any idea when it starts?

anyway i really hope this series would air every other episode much faster.... right now all i know is dvds of 1 episode each are released every month till july... (this anime has 6 episodes BTW) so this is more of an ova than a series... oh well.. i can hardly wait for the next episode(march??) >.<

hold on a sec here:

chibi-freedom-firecontrol-attacks Toei anime for their slow release of the series...don;t keep me waiting already....
That move has been reserved by management... no stealing :erazz: -H

Well, I finally managed to see the first episode, now that some avi versions came out. I have to say, it they can deliver on the plot that we've just gotten
a glimpse of, this good be pretty intense.

At least they've tied the fanservice into the plot somewhat- what a classic situation at the end of the episode. :perv:

I finally hit episode 1 (version 3... :? I guess something's wrong in the group of Lunar).

Well, Iriya is

H

O

T

T

But she seems pretty f*cked up. She seems to be on HEAVY meds and she wishes everyone would all die...

She's undoubtedly the pilot. I bet that was the first time Asaba saw mone besides his sister's BWAHAHA.

Well, I'm looking forward to this series. Too bad it's not a regular once a week thing.

That was a nice looking P90 too.

A guy I know from my anime/manga club (he's chinese, but fairly fluent in Japanese) was rather dismissive of the anime, and says that reading the novels would be the better choice.... His tastes in anime run counter to mine though, fairly often.

We haven't seen enough to know if Iriya is human, but I'll assume she is.
It's save to assume that she's been... modified. That is, she probably has some sort of direct nervous system link with the aircraft, going from the strange implants on the inside of her wrists. So, the meds are probably for
dealing with the reactions to the firmware/sofware probably in her body, and
most likely also to deal with the physical effects of high-g manuvering, going
from what we've seen in the opening animation, and the first few scenes of the episode.

What I sort of found funny was that when Iriya sealed the shelter, supposedly
all linkages to the outside were severed. And yet, one of her keepers managed to call them... :? I suppose it would make sense to have some way of contacting those inside once the door was sealed, though. If it's a dedicated phoneline, not connected to anything else in the shelter, it wouldn't compromise the integrity I guess.

I do believe that the "video game" Asaba was playing, was actually some kind of remote control, and/or simulator. And notice that he wasn't surprised at all at a 3 screen holographic display (free standing, even).
From Iriya's reaction while he was playing the mission, I get the feeling that it has some kind of bio-feedback link to her. That would give new meaning to "pushing someone's buttons", now wouldn't it. :-P
