XenoSaga

First ep!!
All I can say is I liked it!!
The character design is really nice too! ^^
cute girls and one with super powers!! <-- nothing wrong there either ^^

hope that the super girl is on the good side in the beginning

(oh btw this is the first time ive seen so many new animes released on the same day)

FINALLY a sub of Xenosaga! A friend introduced me to the game about a
year back and D*N was a SUCKED IN INSTANTLY!! I SO wondered at the
time what an anime version of the game'd be like. If I remember correctly,
there's (nearly) unstoppable beings called Gnosis, and Shion's part of a team
developing an anti-Gnosis weapon: Kosmos.

Well, I got the ingmae clips from the Xenosaga game I've yet to watch --
over two hours of CGrendered Xeno goodness!! Too bad that wasn't
the way they did this series.. would've been SO COOL!!

Waiting for ep #2... KOSMOS is awake! Euh, should I feel safe or flee in
panic?

KOSMOS is an android designed to battle the gnosis with the Hilbert effect, which brings the ghost like creatures into our plane of existence. will expand on this later, must rush off to school!

ah yes, it's been a rather lengthy wait ^^;; ...anyway, 30 hours of playtime squeezed into 13 episodes...I hope they do a good job

I really do hope that they address certain issues in the game's story more in the anime...like Wilhelm, Abel and Nephilim.

I must say, the AGWS are still....freakin' ugly (or lack of a more creative word XD ) ...I really do hope they turn Xenosaga ep.2 : Junseit Von Gut Und Bose into an anime...KOS-MOS, MOMO and Shion really improved there (visual-wise XD ) ...better mecha too. ^^

a story intro, eh tau? ok, ill take that as an assignment.

In the distant future, Humanity has expanded it's grasp into the far reaches of space. Many colonies exist, and many planets have been populated, as well.

However, space has many threats within it. among these threats are the Gnosis, creatures of unknown origin that do not abide by the rules of reality. Seemingly unstoppable, these ghost-like beings ravage any unfortunate enough to cross their paths. The agenda of the Gnosis is unknown to civilized man. All that is known about these hostile creatures is that they cannot be killed, for they exist in another dimension.

Yet not all hope is lost. Humanitys last stand falls on the shoulders of a small group of researchers. They are to create the ultimate weapon against the gnosis. Project name: KOSMOS.

An android is created by these researchers. This androids name is KOSMOS. The lead researcher, Shion, treats KOSMOS as a living person, but, as she soon finds out, KOSMOS is NOT alive. She is but an android, nothing more.

In this world exist an engineered race known as the Realians (Ree al ee uns). Born to die, they exist only to fight for their masters. To deny the battlefeild is to deny their own existence. Genetically engineered killing machines. This is the Realian.

The humans have also devoloped advanced humanoid machines for hand to hand combat, the AGWS unit. Also capableof weilding guns, the AGWS units are dangerous indeed. A human is required to pilot these machines, however.

Even as the AGWS fall powerless before the onslaught of the Gnosis, They are not undefeatable. The Hilbert Effect, which brings the Gnosis to fight in our dimension, makes them vulnerable. However, this technology is still in its testing stage.

In this bleak and desolate universe, one chance remains for humanity. But remember, every rose has its thorn...

which girl are you talking about? The one with blue hair and red eyes? If yes, that would be KOS-MOS (Kos-Mos Obey Strategical Multiple Operarion Systems ...yes, I don't really understand it ^^; ) KOS-MOS was originally made by Shion's lover...however, certain events transferred KOS-MOS' development into Shion's hand. As Kashim said, KOS-MOS is Vector (Shion's company) Corp.'s trump card, instilling her with an experimental device which can trigger the 'Hilbert Effect' , which drags the Gnosis into the physical realm, where they could be killed without much trouble.

The pink haired girl would be MOMO, a proto-type for the 100 series Observational Realians who are also used in the fight against the Gnosis.

While it would seem that the story is straight to the point ( i.e; use KOS-MOS to beat up Gnosis, save the universe) , it's not really the case...there are so many plot twists and details on the characters that you might even forget about the Gnosis for a while ^^;

Rather than sleep last night, I plugged in the cutscenes from the
Xenosaga game... just to amuse myself. Pretty much the anime's
following the basic story from the game... much as I'd've preferred the
JPN voices -- Chief UTsuki *shudders* Hope the anime saves
some time to spend on the chars. Shion's penchant for attaching human
values to Kosmos & the Raelians, Kosmos' cold logic, etc

Hope that friggin' relic gets explained... that's got me scratching my head
what importance the Gnosis attach to it.

And I'm hoping a gratituous death scene's planned for that lieutenant
when KOSMOS decides to shoot THROUGH him rather than AROUND him
in order to maintain fighting efficiency... the guy's the perfect a$$hole
you just want to see die a poetic death

it hasn't helped that I have never played any of the games, but it peaked my interest,
I like the premice so far.

I gave up watching it. I'm replaying the game and am at the beginning and let's say the cut scenes are all deja vu. I'm all for it being a bit different but it's not different enough, with the exception of Virgil not getting his just desserts. I didn't want that to be different unless KOS-MOS kills him more spectacularly later.

Watching the ingame sequences is probably ROYALLY spoiling me, but...
VIRGIL... MUST... DIE I SO hate when they
make the a$$hole into someone likeable -- the scene where he selfdestructs
the Raelians and admits to becoming addicted to their neurchems? was reduced
to the "I don't want to hear complaints from someone who was just saved"

KOSMOS negotiates in her... forward style about booking passage on the
Elsa next ep. And Momo & Ziggy join the fun... HOPEFULLY I won't have to put
up with Momo's mahou shojo battlestyle

...hoping #3 shows up soon
