I just finished watching the first season of Jubei-chan, Jubei-chan - Secret of the Lovely Eyepatch. It's good, pretty funny but then became more serious (but still good). It's like magic-girl for shounen, hah. :-D

I will continue my quest to watch more anime without having to wait for fansubbers every week. Gotta get Jubei-chan season 2 now, it's worth to watch right?

I didn't think the 2nd one was as much fun, but worth the watch, sure.
I probably won't buy it on dvd, unless a really great price stirs my inner completist self. <g>

I guess it seemed to have less humor, somehow. Or it was all too easy to anticipate..... but still fun :)

If you liked Jubei-chan and Azumanga Daioh, try Jungle Wa Itsumo Hale Nochi Guu (The Jungle Was Fine, Then Came Guu). It's...well, I guess odd is the best way to describe it. It has the same exploration of quirky personalities. IMO it is a better anime than the 2nd season of Jubei-chan, which was just so-so. I really enjoyed Jubei-chan, but I think I expected too much of the second season and was disappointed.

Jubei-chan #1 was an amusing mahou shojo / enemy-of-the-week martial arts romp...
of which I still have to finish the last three eps and find out what they
were builidng towards, if anything. #2 I haven't watched, but I hear
another girl comes to lay claim to the Jubei eyepatch

Jungle Guu has been recommended by an otaku friend as a REALLY good
laugh, tho I have yet to test this assessment for myself

Finished watching the 2nd season. They didn't bother as much with the comedy this time and the comedy that's there is so over-the-top. The Ruffians tries their best. So more drama in this one.

Spoilers:
Shiro turns into one of the ruffian baka for most of the season.
I thought the flashback about Freasha and her animal friends is halarious.
The duel between Freasha and Jubei in the air while falling off the cliff is pretty awesome.
The scene of Ayunousuke crying himself dry and turning into wood is one of the best emotional scenes.
Mikage's husband riding a chainsaw, ROFL.

Sounds amusing, I never managed to get passed the first episode.
I don't know why but that eyepatch stuff kinda was a turndown for me.
I suppose it deserves a second chance. (need more then 24 hours in one day)
