Anime novels...

Post by Taurec »

I just got my hands on Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence, Volume 1 : After the Long Goodbye,
And I have to admit it's pretty good. (If you dig cyberpunk or sci-fi in general grab a copy.)

I already pre-ordered the SAC Novels, but I was wondering if you guys got your hands on other anime based novels. (other than FMP :) )
Did you enjoy reading them?

"Can I help you?, "you know this section is.." she broke off her sentence as the man walked towards her and nodded, "I think you can Captain".
Tessa looked down, "I haven't been called Captain in 4 years," Wha..what do you want?"
He gave her a devious grin, "I'm here to make sure you keep your promise."

Battle Royale... One of the best novels I've ever read :-D
Saint Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray;
and do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host -
by the Divine Power of God -
cast into hell, satan and all the evil spirits,
who roam throughout the world seeking the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Tokyopop's English translations for the Gundam novels. I cried, and nearly ripped my eyes off.
Remember kids, trying to start Armageddon is dangerous. Do not try it at home.

[14:57] Silver Lynxy: Ack. You couldn't see that?
[14:57] Katyusha [Love Through Superior Firepower]: Nope, cant see a thing.
[14:57] Katyusha [Love Through Superior Firepower]: Not using MSN remember?
[14:57] Silver Lynxy: Oh right. You're one of those Trillian people, aren't you?
[14:58] Katyusha [Love Through Superior Firepower]: trillian people? =.= What are we, an ethnicity now?
[15:00] Silver Lynxy: Yes. An evil race.

For those who are interested ... Crest of the Stars was released by TokyoPop a while ago..

Now other then a fudgie about Venus and the Hair color of a certain commander it's a pretty good read.
If you like a good sci-fi story do pick it up.

Oh? How close does the anime follow the novel? I guess what I want to know is what was missing in the anime. And the novel goes farther than where Crest of the Stars 3 OAV (the latest) ended right? And also, I'm guessing the English publications aren't very far yet... right?

I've been reading the Suzumiya Haruhi series. Very good. I saw in the bookstore yesterday that they had a .hack novel based on the game. I'd like to take a peek at that too.

The anime follows the novel pretty close .. but more (tech) bits are explained in the novel.
I have a feel they condensed it. eg the battle of the Gosroth (sh)could have been more detailed.

This novel is just the first volume out of 3 and it ends on that antimatter spacestation Lafiel is making her escape helped by Seelnay.

TP licensed only the first three COTS novels, I hope they will do BOTS, II and III.

There are 7? novels in total.

It's about friggin' time. I was wondering years ago if I'd ever be able to read those novels.

You know, with all these novels being released, maybe FMP has a chance to be translated if TSR does well enough here.
