I got this email forwarded to me and I'm not sure where my loyalties lie on it. Thought it'd be interesting to see your opinions on it.

NEW GAS PLAN

Bush wants us to cut the amount of gas we use. The best way to stop
using so much gas is to deport 11 million illegal immigrants! That
would be 11 million less people using our gas. The price of gas would
come down. If you think this is a good solution to both the problems,
forward it to your friends. I just did.

Bring our troops home from Iraq to guard the border. When they catch
an illegal immigrant crossing the border, hand him a canteen, rifle
and some ammo and ship him to Iraq .
Tell him if he wants to come to America then he must serve a tour in
the military. Give him a soldier's pay while he's there and tax him
on it!

After his tour, he will be allowed to become a citizen since he
defended this country. He will also be registered to be taxed and be
a legal patriot. This option will probably deter illegal immigration
and provide a solution for the troops in Iraq and the aliens trying
to make a better life for themselves.

If they refuse to serve, ship them to Iraq anyway, without the
canteen, rifle or ammo. Problem solved.

This email feels a little racist imho and the problem with racists is that they usually have the mental capacity of a peanut ... (my sincere apology to the peanuts)

11 million illegal immigrants okay that is vs what ? ~190+ million Americans who waste my oxygen and gas with their moronic big cars that have no real use whatsoever.

A nice question would be how many of those 11 million immigrants could afford a car, let alone pay for the gas they use.

Annual crude oil production of the United States ranks it third-greatest in the world, most USA based oil companies wouldn't let the price of gas drop because they like the high price for a reason, this would enable them to convince the investor to put money in USA (alaska) based refineries that are now too expensive to operate because of environmental laws and regulations.

Okay what would it cost to send 11 million illegal immigrants to Iraq...
I think a few hundred billion of your tax money ( I mean afaik a single roll of toilet paper cost the tax payer ~$100) ... and there is another risk
without the cheap abused labor force (nobody likes to talk about) Americans would have to clean their own toilets, cleanup the waste and do every other shitty job etc etc and I know for sure they aren't gonna work for less than a buck/hour and in the end the consumer has to pay for it.

Now to ship them to Iraq without the supplies, It would be amusing 11 million immigrants pissed off at the USA in a oil producing country.... I'm not so sure the price will drop.

To add to Tau's piece, it boils down to "If things are going to s*t, blame
the closest minority group, ship em out, bring the boys home to stand
shoulder to shoulder to stop 'em from coming in, rah-rah, hoo-yeah and
the whole nine yards speech time." Let's see, who was on the distingushed
guest list before: Chinese, Jews, Natives, Irish Immigrants, Japanese,
Germans, Italians, African-Americans, Muslims... the list goes on.

Oh, and a rejoiner... by definition everyone who came to America IS an
illegal alien. The only 'native' population was the Amerindians. Ain't THAT
one a kick to the head? Rejoiner #2 been there, done that with the
whole "Draft the 'Undesirables' to fight our wars for us." It don't work...
I can't say it any shorter than that.

Thanks for the controversial topic Miz~Chidori. It let me blow off some
steam from midterms today

I say let them stay.

Then they'll want resonable wages....
Then they'll want health care....
Then they'll want retirement plans....

and I say yes, they should have them.

Why? because that is the American dream, which is what everyone wants.

(That was mostly for humor, but there is a point to it.)

My folks came to this country for a better life. At least at the time the US allowed immigration from Eastern Europe (anything to hurt the communist machine). However, since the end of the cold war, immigration from Eastern Europe is now a closed door. Even getting a visa to visit from Eastern Europe takes 6-8 months.

Unfortunatly in the past 30 years, the naturalization and immigration service has become a failure (I came to this country when I was 2, but didn't get naturalized until I was 20, because of the incompetance, stupidity, and all around apathy of the INS).

Oh yeah, I'm still waiting on an explination why most of the people working in the NYC INS offices are NOT US Citizens which bearly speak any English. AAMOF, One of the questions given on the exam, in order to make sure you can properly write and speak english (given orally by the testor) was (exact words follow) :

With pen please write down: "America I come with plane to"

WTF!?!?!?!?!

Most of the people in the NY INS offices are here on Visas. Hows that for a kick in the ass? Your citizenship qualification is directly determined by people WHO ARE NOT THEMSELVES CITIZENS. Any one see a slight problem with that?

People should be allowed to come here but the legal way takes too damn long (18 years for me) because of the rotting corpse called the INS. Reforms people, reforms....

They come here looking for a better life, just like everyone else did, and I do mean EVERYONE (except the indiginous population, that we basically stuffed onto a grain of sand). This country will benefit from the people who are willing to work. Face it, they don't come here to get welfare. These people work, and work hard, at jobs which are often dangerous, for next to nothing, with no benefits, often for exploitive employers, and get no respect for it.

I'm sorry, but I'm awstruck at thier perserverence. (-2sp)

Oh wow! That is craziness! That is beyond _retarded_

I don't understand how we can say we defend our own if we're willing to send in illegal aliens to do it for us in exchange for citizenship. It seems to strange. Then again, we have no problem sticking it to our own. Twisted world.

I understand that there is a true concern about Spanish overtaking English language-wise. A united country can be horribly divided by language. Then again, it works in Europe. It presents challenges, but the particular situation gives intangible challenges. But, maybe we should start with the constitution by declaring an official language before making a nazi issue out of it.

My loyalties lay my own ideals.. That being said I am against illegal Immigration. And I was against the police action in the country formally known-as Iraq. So if this was ever truthfully considered (Other then in joke form like this) I Would likely oppose it. Just guard the border and cease being the police of the global elite. No North American Union for me, Woo.
