They're already out on the first DVD.

To Recap:

There were two half-episodes in Fumoffu that didn't make it into the Japanese
TV broadcast. One was the kidnapping episode... if I remember correctly,
shortly before it was to be broadcast an actual kidnapping event occured
and it got bumped. #2 was the lunch / buns episode

@kungpaopnda
as Weltall said, they can all be found on the 1st FMP?F DVD, along with
ADV's background notes and the 'cut' Tessa scene in the 1st Fumoffu ep.

The DVD is worth buying just for the sake of helping to ensure that FMP will be brought over to the US in the future. And any real FMP fan will tell you to buy it for the novelty of owning it.

Otherwise, well... can't really say.

I was pretty impressed by the episodes in question... usually, 'lost' episodes tend to be the ones that where, apparently, not good enough to have made it on the air. Both of these were suprisingly entertaining; especially the lunch episode.

That part where he looks up at the sky and sees this romantic, grinning version of the PE teacher was... well, there's no 'thumbs-up' smiley, but it was pretty damn funny.

These didn't make it on the air because of an unfortunate kidnapping incident being a big deal in the japanese news at the time Fumo was scheduled to air. They simply decided it was inappropriate at that time due to content... so, they were good. Seemingly too good.

Acutally, OT now, both FMP series had been changed or delayed because of major news incidents- the first season was delayed and subject to some changes due to it's original schedule setting it to begin airing in October '01.
The audience applauded, even though it was not clear what Bush meant.

ah yes, the month after september eleventh... It's almost (but only almost) funny how real world events effect cartoons like that.... It happened on the other side of the globe, and was a completely different thing, yet....the fact that the first FMP! arc involved an airplane hijacking by terrorists was enough to change stuff around, seemingly because it was _too_ realistic....
Is it just me, or are there way too many talking decapitated heads around these days?

I understood the hijacking thing to be the big issue for the delay, but they also (apparently) went through the series and changed names of real countries to fake names.

I think the only time in the whole series that the name of a real country is used, other than Japan/USA/USSR, is in the first episode during Sousuke's class introduction.

I can't blame anyone for feeling iffy about airing a show at that time where the protoganist is a kid who learned guerrilla combat in Afghanistan.
