Early anime series question.

Post by Tarrot »

Ok, during the first arc, Sousuke finds the bomb on the plane, which is scheduled to go off in about 15 minutes. Now, in that 15 minute timeframe, Sousuke manages to contact the TDD, tell them about the bomb and the situation, the TDD mobilizes its active personel, Mao and Kurtz arrive, they are brieffed, they across whatever country they're supposed to be in, arrive, and get rid of the bomb. Working it out in my head, I don't see how it would be feasible, timewise. So I'm curious, was this the time listed in the novels, or are we supposed to accept that this is the level of Mithril technology.

Uhhhh....I'm pretty sure the bomb was scheduled to go off in a couple of hours and not a couple of minutes. I mean, it sounds the most logical.

Read the Law of Temporal Variability in Anime

-or-

Read the original novel(s) -- of which I don't have access to unfortunately

I take it as they wanted to build up suspense and overlooked the 'finer' details...

Welcome Welcome !!!

As for your question, I'm almost certain the timer was set for a couple hours, it'd be much easier if I could pop in my dvds to be certain.
Does anyone recall if the agents responsible for arming it in the cargo hold actually mention a time frame? I know they said no transmissions near it, but I just don't remember if they said for how long, or left it open because-hey if you activate it, it goes BOOM regardless of the time it was set for.

Here's another quandry though. Stupid though it may be.

They mention they had to be prepared to blow it in the air or on the ground. If they were wanting to kidnap chidori, was guaron just going to parachute out of the plane with her or something if they weren't able to get the plane to land? Or was it in case the plane took off after they retrieved her? Is it just fruitless to ponder since only Gatou really knows?

When I saw it in the series, when Sousuke first discovers it, it's counting down from 900 second by second. So 900 seconds = 15 minutes. 9000 seconds might've made more sense, 2 1/2 hours, but it just struck me as weird when I first saw it.

Hmm, if I remember Teletha gave them 5 minutes to get there, maybe the TDD-1 was nearby? I dunno, wait a sec, I think I got the manga series somewhere on my comp lemme check it...maybe I can go over it again and shed some light on this. Or maybe they just made an accident with the Anime, I dunno, anyways, I'll edit this post if I find out anything.

EDIT: Eh, nope, nothin in the manga that helps, they just say they need to be 30 meters away from it when it explodes.

I'd go back and watch the Anime again, but, I borrowed the first season from a friend, then downloaded the rest xD

*coughs* Supersonic Harriers.

Look at the Harriers in TDD-1's hanger. There is no way in hell you are gonna convince me those are base-model USMC AV-8B+ Harrier II Plus models. Look at the sharp noses. Look at the ECS. Look at how it's angled.

My guess is that the Harriers are supersonic, and the backpacks for the M9s are capable of pretty fast speed...

*cough* And also... PLot Device.

I've no doubt that the backpack is fast, but really, i'd still say they'd have to be close by, and the AS where launched with the backpacks, so I dunno, then again, like you said, plot device, we can just go with whatever we think reall, I'll just say the TDD-1 was close by, you can say they fly at a bajillion miles an hour xD

Or the clock on the bomb was a Foe-lex bought on the street from a guy selling them out of a shopping cart.
