What weapons does Heero normally carry? What "normal" weapon are we talking about for Sousuke? His Glock while in Japan or some type of automatic weapon that he'd nomally have out in the field?
I'd say that gun to gun, Sousuke would win. Hand to hand, Heero would win, if only because Gundam pilots are automatically uber at everything regardless of any rational reason behind why they'd have training at it (horseback riding, fencing, computer hacking, etc.). Tough to say with Mechs. Heero's got all the toys, but if Sousuke can work the LD, he might have a shot. Sousuke would have the edge in Afghanistan, IMO.

It's hard to make the comparison because watching Gundam Wing, Heero can do some pretty impossible things (come on, he breaks his femur and is able to set it himself and go on? Yeah right). Admittedly, Sousuke has a very high tolerance for pain as well, but nothing to that point.

Not to mention falling from a 50-storey height with minimal speed-retarding aids and coming off with a few scratches (the details escape me).
I'm giving this to Heero on grounds of suspension of belief.
(And doesn't Heero normally carry a pistol anyway? What's with the submachine gun?)

Sousuke will win.
So why Sousuke?
Heero has been trained to be a assassin, perfect soldier, hacker but especially as pilot for those unrealistic piles of junk called Gundam.
Training will only get you so far, I don't doubt he is good but Sousuke has been fighting since he was a toddler
.. Kabul is his backyard and has by far more experience in urban / guerrilla tactics. afaik Heero is the cold, calculating type .. but being a being a imaginative original sneaky bastard gives you the edge in a urban type war zone.
Also the MP5 has a effective range of around ~200 m and the Steyr ~ 450 m

"Can I help you?, "you know this section is.." she broke off her sentence as the man walked towards her and nodded, "I think you can Captain".
Tessa looked down, "I haven't been called Captain in 4 years," Wha..what do you want?"
He gave her a devious grin, "I'm here to make sure you keep your promise."

you can't compare the two, gundam is a mecha about every character super human from birth, FMP is a mecha that is a si-fi yet tries its best at keeping things realistic
and to put that into perspective, when gundam character has a weakness the author brings in an excuse to turn that into a strength, when FMP character has a weakness the author exploit it and make a real character out of it because, let's agree on this, real people aren't perfect :p

I say screw having them fight. Needs more of them combo attacking some poor, unfortunate enemy in an SRW Game. I mean, seriously, the interaction would be epic.
Duo(on Sosuke): "How come he sounds a lot like a certain somebody...?"

Random Pilot Dude: "Does this thing even have a CD Player? How am I supposed to pwn some noobs now?"
Random Mechanic Dude: "Huh?"
Random Pilot Dude: "Yeah, I need my Kelly Clarkson. Its the only way."
