A question about locations

Post by LeoXiao »

In the first season, when the airliner carrying all the students to Okinawa is hijacked, in what nation is it landed? It said that there were T-54's and MiG 21's at the airbase which would imply that it was North Korea (because those are seriously outdated), but when it showed the map of the "single-minded authoritarian nation), it was zooming in on Vladivostok rather than North Korea. Also, the name "Khanka Autonomous region" was stated, and the Japanese name for Korea is "Kankoku" (am I right?), so that could mean that they were referring to North Korea.

So I am sort of confused. Does anyone here know for sure?

In the anime, the country is Khanka. However, in the books it's North Korea. At least, that's the impression I was always under. Just like Hemeljistan (sp?) in the anime is really Afghanistan in the novels.

yeah, at the end of the first novel, gatoh makes an apology and says that he has nothing against north korea it was just conveniently placed for the novel

this wasn't enough for the anime producers. they were afraid of insulting north koreans so they changed the name, same with afganistan
Dr. Phil gave birth to Chuck Norris and Ron Paul helped deliver the baby

...but Neil DeGrasse Tyson will create a black hole with his mind and devour them all.
