It's from the color pages in volume 5 of the manga. I think you don't usually see scans of it precisely because it's a two page spread that otherwise needs to be pieced together. You could scan just the one side with Tessa's head, but then the picture's kind of unbalanced...

I couldn't help but edit your 1280 wall
It should look nicer now.. (deleted small scrapes and stuff here and there)
color should also be intensed..
Ok... First I guess I should say that I don't mean this offensively - I did switch between both pics several times looking for anything discernably different other than color, and noticed nothing. The color on my picture has already been adjusted to cover the full color spectrum, your edit only washes out the color that's already there. What I did specifically in photoshop is, first thing after scanning, go to Image -> Adjustments -> Levels, then adjust the input levels so that there was no area at zero. It removes the washout from scanning while still remaining faithful to the original picture. Your edit has gone much farther than that, and washes out blue areas to white, her skin becomes more yellow like a lemon than actual skin color, her shirt starts to lose detail, black lines begin to disappear, and you lose much of the white water effects the original artist included.

I guess basically I object to you saying it "should look nicer now" because I don't think anything you may have done makes it look nicer. If you like the colors more "intense" it's of course your decision, whatever you do with the picture on your own computer I have no say and do not care. However, after spending 20 hours editing the picture together, then someone else presuming to come along at the end and spend five minutes adjusting color and thinking to say what they've done is better....

Finally, I considered submitting my wallpapers to the Task Force website but chose not to. I think will in the future, overall I like the site very much, but at least for now I do not wish backgrounds I have put together to be on your website. (I realize you were probably just putting it up on the most easily accessible web space, but just in case, that's how I feel at the moment.) I would ask that you please respect that decision. Otherwise, enjoy the backgrounds and edit the colors for your personal use to your own satisfaction.

/me happily sits on the Fence and moderates.

woman22980: I think youve done a FANTASTIC job of scanning that image and piecing it together into a high-res wallpaper. Colours are faithful to the original image from the print edition. However, some areas are a bit more bland than I might imagine the *original* paint appeared. However, in choosing to keep it as similar as possible to the material in the book youve done a phenomenal job (and it shows).

Zyrex: In some areas, youve removed minor niggly errors (like the paper texture that appeared in some areas, such as the ribbon). Good work on removing those without visibly altering the image. Also, brightening the colour in most areas turned out well, bringing it closer to how the original paint appeared (noteable exception being skintone, which I too feel looks odd). Also, the reduced impact of the lineart detracts from the image.

Does one look "nicer"?
No.
I think you've both shown you have great talent with the photo editing, and have produced very nice results, albeit each of you with different ideals.

Just my 2¢.
All the links in my sig went dead. ; ;

Yay!! There's a couple more backgrounds up now, coming to a total of eleven. I've pretty much run out of color pages from the manga to make into backgrounds, so I don't think there'll be much more from there for a while (until the next book! :-D ) I'll be getting the anime artbook and a few dvds soon though, so I haven't run out of stuff yet!!

Enjoy

I'm glad others are looking forward to it! It is such a moment from the manga, I remember being very disappointed with how it was shown in the anime, but the manga makes up for it I think  I must say, other people's interest is what keeps me working on these piece together projects instead of just abandoning them. That particular one really is going to be harder though, there's so much empty space to fill, and nothing to serve as a guide as to what it should look like. It'll be a couple of weeks at the least, but I'll try :)

Do what you can. I know what it's like to piece pages together - with a bunch of space in between. I promise not to beat you if it takes longer or you get frustrated with it. :-D

Wow! This thread is back from the dead!

FMP volume 6 was released recently and I've made new backgrounds for the two color pages! I have not edited together the two page spread of Kaname, that's a project I'd love to do but will take me a LOOONG time now that I have a job. For now I took the side with her face and made it into a simple background.

Anyway, check them out here!

Like Bones said to Kirk, "It's dead Jim."
-

"Can I help you?, "you know this section is.." she broke off her sentence as the man walked towards her and nodded, "I think you can Captain".
Tessa looked down, "I haven't been called Captain in 4 years," Wha..what do you want?"
He gave her a devious grin, "I'm here to make sure you keep your promise."
