...well, since you're wondering, been in a writing block, mainly over
an ENTIRE section I have to rewrite, because I messed up continuity.
And I need more info on the British Perisher course for the backstory

A loud scream broke his thoughts. Two soldiers were struggling with another young boy, not much older. Sergeant Dmitrivich, he saw, made no move to stop the obvious abuse. "What is going on here?! Sergeant!" he bellowed.

Sergeant Dmitrivich turn to face him, barely concealing a malicious grin. "Don't worry, Lieutenant. They all learn their place. We teach them that, very quickly. Efficient, no? This here is one of our... slower learners."

"Stop this, now!" The soldiers immediately let go, dropping the boy to the floor like a bag of potatoes. "Sergeant, take their names!"

"Why, because they were doing their jobs?"

Kalinin glared over at his subordinate. "Do I have to repeat myself?"

"Very well, Comrade Lieutenant Kalinin. But nothing will come of it, I suspect. Please understand, we are merely carrying out Moscow's policy. Elimination of rebels, and pacification of the survivors. It is simple as that."

Kalinin searched for a response, but the cold logic of it fit, in a twisted way. Those were orders, and they were to be carried out. He turned back to the boy and gave him a closer examination. The boy wordlessly gazed back at him, their eyes locked. "Sergeant, this boy is not Afghan, he is Asian. Explain."

"Pardon?"

"No more games, Sergeant! I said this boy is Asian, NOT Afghan! I want an explanation, now!"

Sergeant Dmitrivich came over and took a closer look for himself. "I... I do not know, Comrade." he began, genuinely surprised. "We've gotten some intelligence reports foreigners were in the area, tourists, businessmen, the usual lot. But not much can be done now. The town was eliminated."

Kalinin noted the way Sergeant Dmitrivich had said the word 'eliminated'. Nothing left, wiped off the face of the earth, no longer existed, forgotten. Dear God. "What is your name?" Kalinin asked in Mandarin.

No response.

He then tried Vietnamese.

The boy merely gave him a blank stare.

Finally, in Japanese.

"Kashim," was his response.

...only problem, I managed to screw up the timeline that FMP
works off of, which goes roughly:

1988 - peace agreement between USSR & Afghanistan signed
1989 - complete USSR withdrawal from Afghanistan
...
1993 - Kashim / Kalinin / Gaulun in Afghanistan (as according to the anime)
~2001 - events of FMP anime #1

...need a new way to get everything to fit!!! Ergh!!
