The sweet roll

Everyone reamber the ep where sousuke uses his glock to get a sweet roll and ends up injuring the lunch lady? I had one of those sweet rolls today, and can`t figure out why kaname doesn`t like them. they are quiet nice actually!

Err... I had thought that Kaname actually liked them coz she was going all out to get them.

Erm, no offense, but did you not pay any attention to the ep at all?

Kaname was going all out to get a custard pastry, because those sell out fast and all that was usually left at the end were "yucky" sweet rolls.

Which is ironic because Sousuke went to all that trouble to get one when he could have waited.

Sweet roll? My sub translated what Sousuke wanted as
French bread.

I don't think I've ever tried a sweet roll, or if I have, I
didn't know it was one.

Never had such thing before. Are they roughly similar to Logan's Steakhouse Yeast Bread (somewhat redundant). Not to go OT intentionally but what exactly is sweet bread? Just curious. /me thinks about a bread topic.

First of all, do they actually specify what bread it
is? We've heard sweet rolls and French bread, but the
manga says just "lunch rolls."

In the dub, they say "plain roll", as in a plain roll of bread. That would explain why Kaname was freaked out that Sousuke would go through the trouble of getting a plain roll when nobody would even get it, better to get food that taste better, if you use common sense. But with Sagara, he is more on efficiency than fanciness, he drinks a bottle of water for a drink at breakfast, and also I suspect on every other meal he makes himself. Though when he joins Mao and Kurz at bars, mostly the Tuatha de Danaan or Merida Base one, he orders grapefruit juice, no alcohol. I got that example from the novel right before Clouzot comes to beat the pulp out of Kurz, and to challenge Sousuke.

The sweet bread is called "coupe" in Japan. I have no idea why a name for a type of car is used on this bread....

A quick glance at "coupe" in a dictionary reveals that it is a latin-origin word which means:

2. A shallow, bowl-shaped dessert dish.
3. A modern 2 door car

In danish, kupé is used about train enclosed sections of a pasenger train cart where a few people can sit together...It appears to have many synonyms, but the common thing is that it's a rather thingamabob wrapped around something else...

i'm watching FMPF again with a friend so ill let u know

as for sweet rolls i was fortunate enough to have one last year (from a friend); i guess sweet kinda got me all psyched up, for when i had one, it wasn't THAT sweet; i'd probably choose a custard pastry over them...

not that sweet rolls are bad, just not what i'd prefer (i <3 you kaname!
