Sousuke and Chidori's first name
Just wondering, has Sousuke ever refered to Kaname by her first name in the manga or the anime? I've seen most of the anime up to the latest episode of TSR and read the novels that follow on from the first anime series. I have not read any of the manga and my memory of the anime episodes isn't entirely accurate. I know he uses her first name in the dub but I'm more concerned about the subtitled version. So yeah, just wondering.

Sousuke call's her Kaname just once. That was when they were escaping from the airbase in the first season of the anime where he was trying to make her run away by herself.

Does he really? I'll have to check that out for myself later. As far as I know, I've never heard Sousuke call Chidori by her first name. I think it's partly part of his nature to do so, since he's pretty formal. He calls her Kaname in the dubbing, which kinda irks me. I think if he ever starts to call her Kana on a regular basis it will be a huge plot development. Remember, Chidori starts using "Sousuke" instead of "Sagara-kun" right after he promises her that he's going to stay in Tokyo as "insurance" to protect her.
If Sousuke does ever call her Kaname it'll probably be after she beats him with her halisen repeatedly until he makes a habit of it. It would be nice though if he called her Kaname on his own.

Hehehe, I've watched the first season over and over (when I was doing an AMV) so I am 100% sure that is what happens. Its where she ignores him pointing a gun at her and walks up to close to him. He then drops his gun, (cue music) she gives a mini-speech and then the name saying comences. That sort of thing is kinda cheesy, but who am I to comlpain about an over-used romantic theme? Besides, not everyone can get it right, (a.k.a. "Luke!!!" "Carrie!!!" Doh.....)
Of course Kurtz wakes up at that point.
Yah the English version pretty much ruined that point. He has never called her Kaname since then.

I think with Sousuke, it's more than just a simple thing. I mean, the Japanese do have their politeness standards and that goes as far as with names (I.E: using chan/kun or san...etc) And with Sousuke, he's always just well...followed orders. He's very straight forward and very formal, which is funny how everyone beats him up and calls him rude and really, he's anything but . So, for him to actually loosen up and use her first name, it's a huge deal! Which is why i'm po'd about the dub as well. I really wish they'd set that standard cuz I find myself wincing everytime I hear him say "Kaname" x.x;. Don't get me wrong, I do like the FMP! dub but I just wish they'd have kept with that standard, cuz it really is significant.Ariane wrote:Hahaha, that's a funny summary. Even funnier when you condsider that we're all like "awwwww!" and think it's significant, even though it's such a simple, ordinary thing. Darn Sousuke not giving us much to go on...
As for Sousuke, I could picture the poor boy dating Kaname and still calling her Chidori, and her beating him with her harisen everytime he did it XD.
