I have completely fallen in love with Chrno Crusade. I just finished up he anime and am anxiously awaiting the arrival of my the first six volumes of the manga from an internet order I placed. Is there anything else similar out there that you guys think I might like? At least until FMP: The Third raid comes out.

What other titles do you like? And maybe including non-anime things might help... I haven't seen CC, what are the things about it and FMP that reallly hook you?

Simillar to Chrono Crusade as in Drama/Romance and Action/Demons..

Id recommend an Oldie but a goldie:
Juuni Kokki, also known as The Twelve Kingdoms
its not simillar to Chrono Crusade in anyway at all..
but u might like it..

You can check out 3x3 Eyes. It's about this demon/goddess type girl who's the last of her kind and wishes to become human. An anthropologist guy finds her in the Himalayas but dies (of old age) and before he died, he told her to find his son and he'll help her become human. She finds him in Tokyo, shit happens, he becomes her immortal slave, and they begin their quest...

It's romantic comedy + action/adventure/supernatural. Rather bloody.

The OAV of it isn't as good as the manga but it's decent. Darkhorse's publication of the manga is overpriced (~$13 for half a volume). And they've droped it after like vol 5 (out of 40 volumes). Scanslations of the first volumes are harder to get but I can help you out, pm me if you want. Scanslations are up to vol 26, I dunno what happens in the end (avoiding spoilers) so I can't tell you if it's a sad ending or not.

As for other Action+Romance types...
Mahoromatic (much less angst than CC). She has a countdown like Rosette too.
Mai-HiMe (magic girl with lots of angst)

The others I can think of are either too light-hearted or too magic-girl to be compared with CC. I can't think of a single series that ends on a note as sad as CC.

I like CC beacause of the storyline and the character design. Chibi Chrno is adorable, but adult Chrno is hot. I do like a bit of the supernatural. As far as other things I like, there's FMP, of course, Orphen, Escaflowne, G Gundam, Gundam SEED, Vampire Hunter D, Blood: the Last Vampire, Gantz, just to name a few.

I'd suggest Trinity Blood. I love the character designs--Father Abel Nightroad can go from cute, innocuous priest to scary vampire in moments. Father Nightroad, much like Chrno (but for different reasons), hates using his vampire form because of the costs involved.

The story starts out too episodic for my tastes but quickly settles down into a gripping story of the Vatican vs. Contra Mundi, with the New Human Empire (ironically run by vampires) thrown in to make life difficult.

It's set at least a 1000 years in the future after Armageddon. As far as I can tell, the only accessible parts of the world to the Europeans are Albion (England), Northern Africa and as far east as Turkey. It's neat--you have normal humans ("Terrans"), vampires ("Methuselahs") and robots. Father Tres, aka "Gunslinger", is one of those robots and boy can he shoot. There's still some high tech like airships. I particularly like AX's ship, Iron Maiden, with its captain (always seen as a hologram) Sister Kate Scott.

I highly recommend Anime Forever's translation notes since the show references various historical personages, Latin phrases, and foreign words and places.

The funny thing about this show is I was drawn into watching it after finding out the ED theme was sung by Tomoko Tane who did the Gasaraki themes. "Love Song," the Gasaraki ED, is still one of my all time favorite themes.

EDIT: I forgot to mention a major similarity to Chrno Crusade. Sister Esther credits Father Nightroad for saving her life, much like Sister Rosette credited Chrno and the Magdalen Order.

Check out "Devil x Devil", it's an action/light romance story about an angel and a devil cooperating on earth. It has some dramatic moments, through none compare in intensity with Chrno Crusade (which gets really dark at times).

If you're into fantasy as well as cute character design, check out "The Grey Witch" from the "Record of Lodoss War" series. Tho once you read that one it's kind of mandatory to read the others too.

I suppose the above four are somewhat on the "darker" side of anime.
