WTF!!! NO!!! Is the voice overs still the same? I hope they don't whore it out like DBZ... Wait or do I?

Funimation's changed a lot since DBZ, so it won't end up like that at all.
As for the dub... that's up in the air for now.

Seems ADV did have eyes on it, but Funi got it from under them.

YES!! Yatta! Yatta! Yattaaa! *dances around her living room* This is the best news.
A little note: I believe Funimation also has the original (or most of) cast members. I talked with Chris Patton about it and he said if Funi got it they would most likely be playing the parts (but this was last year @ Anime USA).

Hmm... Interesting. ADV has a habit of using the same actors for just about all their projects. I wonder if they're under contract with them. Hopefully Fun will still be able to pull them in.

The following people have done roles for Funi anime before...
Chris Patton (Sousuke)
Luci Christian (Kaname)
Monica Rial (Kyoko)
Vic Mignogna (Kurz)
Greg Ayres (Shinji)
So those 5 are givens. The rest are up in the air.
btw ADV & Funi's studios aren't far from each other. ADV's over in Houston, while Funi's HQ is in Fort Worth.

Well, at least the most important people are there. Though it'd be nice to snag Mao and Tessa too.

Normally VA's are not tied to a given studios, just like actors are not. So it is possible for Funimation to higher the original VAs.
BUt the most important things are that the VA's they do higher are capable, the director does a proper job of directing the talent, and the dialog writers keep true to the original dialog (like Sousuke refereing to Kaname by her given name thereby messing up the instances where he does so intentionally. I *REALLY* hated that.. >_<)

So long as the product is quality (ie. both video and audio) and there's
a decent number of eps per disc, who licences it is not really an issue...
but the name Funimation keeps sending shivers down my back

It was just cleared up officially on AoDVD's forum by a rep -- the OVA is included in the license, as is episode 00.

As long they keep the original soundtrack ... I won't have to travel to Fort Worth and torch it .... <grin>
Good news.
