Part 5
Natasha sat on the steps of the school. She was in trouble again. It was not like she was trying to get in trouble, trouble found her. She had tried telling people this her whole life but they never listened. She should have known the second that they made her take of the majority of her eye makeup that she was in trouble. Nico had tried to help; since Darres was two grades above them he couldn’t do a thing. Nico had really tried to tell the teachers and other staff members that Natasha was not from here and rather forced into the situation. He had tried to tell them to cut her some slack. He had failed.
At least Nico was trying. Darres had not talked to Natasha hardly at all. Sure he was around a lot but he didn’t say much. Every day it was the same thing. Natasha would wake up and Darres would be in the room sitting at the computer. He would say good-morning and go back to work. At breakfast he would eat and then go to the roof. Natasha didn’t see him at school because he was in a different grade. When they would get home he would go to the roof and do his homework. Right before Natasha went to bed he would come in and say goodnight.
What was his deal?
And why did he not say something about the stuff? He was there every morning. Did he not see that most of the things in his room had been thrown to the floor at night. Did he know and is just playing stupid? He was driving her crazy, even more so than the other boys, who had taken a liking to driving her off the walls.
Natasha turned her head when she heard footsteps behind her. She had been expecting the teacher there to yell at her and give her a detention or something of the sort. Natasha was surprised to see a boy who had done just as much damage to his uniform as she had. He had a cocky look to him, which was a little over done. The pocketknife in his hand made it clear that he was not just another student walking through the school on his way to the bathroom. He looked down at Natasha and smiled evilly. Natasha turned her head back to facing the window and tried to act as clam as possible. She had come here to stay out of trouble not get in more than she had at home.
“Well aren’t we an arrogant one.” He said as he ran his hand down her shoulder. Natasha pulled away. “And from the fact that your out here means your in trouble. If I didn’t know better I would have thought you and I would get along famously.” Natasha shivered a little she didn’t like this at all.
“Look, just back off, okay. I’m in enough trouble as it is and I don’t need some punk making things miserable for me.” Natasha had stood up and was now facing the boy. He had this look about him that told her that he wouldn’t hesitate to nock her to the floor if she crossed the line.
“Now I know who you are. Your Darres new toy, I’ve heard so much about you.” He had taken a step closer to Natasha and was stroking her hair. “When he gets bored with you come to me and I will show you a good time.” He whispered in her ear. Natasha knocked his hand away from her as she jumped back.
“Angelo, leave her alone.” Darres was standing behind the boy. He had come out of nowhere. Natasha was more than relieved to see him there. The creep had been crossing some of her lines and if she had beat him up she would have gotten in big trouble.
“Darres, good to see you again. I’m sorry I didn’t see your name tattooed to her marking her as yours. But I must have missed it.” Angelo sneered. Darres had an even more terrifying look on his face now.
“The girl is under our protection, so you and your boys will stay as fat away from her as possible if you know what’s good for you.” Darres said coming around to stand in front of Natasha. Natasha now realized what this was all about. This Angelo guy was the leader of another gang at the school. That’s why he had been coming on to her so much; he wanted to get Darres attention. Natasha rolled her eyes, how did she always get stuck in the middle of things like this?
“What’s going on here?” Kaname was no standing between the two boys. “Angelo you are not allowed in the halls between or during class. Now move before the teacher gets here and you get your sorry butt suspended for another time this year.” Kaname had her ‘I’m in charge’ voice on and it was pretty good too.
“Right-ho, Miss Vice President. I’ll be sure to kiss up to you next time when I want to slide out of trouble.” Angelo walked of in the direction he had come.
“Sorry I had to keep you waiting Natasha. I talked to the teacher and there will be no punishment. He now understands that no one told you that you could not alter the uniform. But you will be expected to keep your thoughts to yourself next time.” Kaname was smiling at how well her argument had been, and she had won. This was worth celebrating with a milkshake.
“You were in trouble again?” Darres looked shocked. It was interesting to see his evil, though guy look melt away from his face almost instantly.
“Um, well you know. I like to change the way the uniform looks because it’s so boring. And I didn’t know that you couldn’t tell a teacher that they had the facts wrong.” Natasha twiddled her feet making her look very innocent and much more like a 10 year old than a 16 year old.
“So you ready to go? Or do you want to go back to your apartment first?” Kaname had her purse in her hand.
“Oh no I’m ready to go.” Natasha and Kaname started to walk off. They took a mental count to see how long it would take Darres to realize that they were leaving. It took five seconds.
“Wait! Where are you two going?” Darres ran after them.
“We are going shopping for tomorrow nights dance.” Natasha gave Darres a duh look. Was he out of his mind, she needed new clothes and school was going to be over in five minutes any way.
“Just the two of you. With no one else.” Darres didn’t want to seem imposing. He had been doing very well tailing Natasha with out her noticing it. But the clothing store would be a new challenge that he was not ready to tackle.
“No, of course not. Sousoke will be three steps behind of us at all times. And some of my other friends are coming with us. So we really don’t need another stalker.” Kaname looked like she had had enough of this being followed thing. Kaname and told Natasha that if she ever got annoyed to just come over to her apartment and they would rant for hours. Natasha really like Kaname’s style, it was less manipulating than Natasha’s but it still worked just as well.
“Don’t worry, you’ll get to see me all dressed up so just hold your horses.” Natasha ran her finger down Darres right shoulder. She wanted to make him sweat just a little and he was. “Alright see you later.” Natasha and Kaname bounded off.
Ten seconds later Sousoke came walking along. He gave Darres a head nod and continued on silently.
*
“So you are going to sing at the dance still?” Kaname looked desperate. The other singer had gotten a cold yesterday and would not be able to make it. The success of the dance was rest on her shoulders since it was her idea.
“Of course I will. I have already been in two bands and I have been in choir all my life. I got it covered, so chill darling.” Natasha stepped out of the dressing room with a long dress on. It was a little more girly and fancy than what she normally wore but it did wonders on her. Kaname looked at the dress a few more times.
“Nope, that last one was the best.” Both girls nodded. Natasha would turn some heads and drop some jaws in the last one she had tried on. Kaname had also found something that would give a similar but less intense effect. Both girls had been leading supporters for this dance because both having lived in America and going to dances there. Now they were going to wow the world some more.
“Are you two about finished in there?” Sousoke had been cooling his heels out side the woman’s dressing room for over and hour now. There had been a few times when he had run off to get different sizes of dress for them, but other wise he was totally bored out of his mind.
“Well if you want to ruin the best time of your life you will keep asking that question.” Natasha yelled. “Kaname is in here trying to find a sexy dress to wear just for you so the least you could do I wait. Here read this.” Natasha threw an issue of a punk magazine out the door. Sousoke made a rather large moan. “Read it stupid. You can learn a lot from those. Like out to scare some one enough that they wont even think of making a move on your woman.” There was a pause and then turning of pages. Natasha smiled at Kaname.
When the girls had finished with their shopping they headed back to Kaname’s place. Natasha had insisted that there was no way she could get properly ready for the dance in and apartment were you only got ten minutes in the bath room every three hours and where she in a way shared a room with a boy. The boys had all moaned and groaned because that meant they would have to fend for themselves when it came to food, they had been getting use to eat real food at normal times and they didn’t want to go back to they way things had been.
When they got to Kaname’s apartment Darres was waiting outside the door with Loki attacked to his leg. Loki went running at Natasha when he saw her coming. He nearly knocked her over, Loki wasn’t has small as he acted. His face was read from crying and his nose was running.
“I know you said not you bother you but he really wouldn’t stop till I brought him here.” Darres had on his super cool voice. He was trying to be strong. Why did he do that whenever Loki was crying? Did he not know that Loki needed some one who cared not some one who didn’t have emotion?
“Of course he did. With you acting like you don’t care when he gets like this.” Natasha said giving Loki a giant bear hug. “Kaname do you think it will be alright if Loki stayed the night also? We can take him back over in the morning to get his stuff.” Kaname nodded in agreement.
“I’m one ahead of you.” Darres pointed to the bags lying by the door. Darres smiled when Loki ran and reattached himself to Darres’s leg.
“I’m sorry Dad. I know that I need to suck it up and take it when the other kids pick on me. I tried, I really tried.” Loki looked like he was about to cry again.
“It’s fine. I know you try. You have a good time with Natasha and I will see you tomorrow. Okay?” Darres ruffled Loki’s hair and Loki removed himself from Darres leg. Loki and Kaname headed into the apartment.
As Darres turned to leave Natasha blocked him. She wasn’t letting him leave. Natasha had some things that she wanted to sort out and now seemed like a good time.
“Why do you do that?” Natasha looked a little steamed.
“Do what?” Darres was clueless
“Act all cool and stone at heart and then change at the drop of a hat. You do it all the time. Do you suffer from split personality disorder or something?”
“No.”
“Good. Because I think that if you balance it out just a little more you are going to be a great dad to that kid.” Natasha was smiling. “Don’t forget you have to pick me up tomorrow at 630.” Natasha headed towards the apartment.
“What am I picking you up for?” Darres looked more than a little stumped.
“For the dance silly. You’re my date.” Natasha blowed Darres a kiss and watched him change four colors of purple. “Night.”
