Why do people write like this... What i mean is why do people love changing the basis of the story that much. The people that write the fics here just puts a basis on Kaname and Souske is in love. They are forgeting why the show is funny. There is sexual tenison between the two. Since people just push them together and make them love each other to the point of having a child and marraige. What was hillarious about how souske or kaname acts is gone, But dont get me wrong though. I love reading the stories here. From DD's intelectually based writting to SL's Steel Hearts to anysia's short stories (which are well made) and TE's Nadesico Fmp Fic (BTW finish it). This just my two cents on the fics.

Yeah i agree with him. People tend to forget that the story is funny when there is tension between them, but i dont believe not all of them is sexual.

maybe writers are just thinking to far ahead in the story for us to see. Like they reference to some things that other people have not been exposed to like the novels that were not animated yet where the development of the Kaname and Sousuke relationship is at an all time high while taking sharp twist and turns because of Mithril's coincidental interventions...

First off, welcome to the boards TabingIlog

Second, trying to remember any 'offending' fics you're referring to here
that put SxK into this together forever setting. dd I know's written several
that way, and Anysia's written a short story of that nature. Other than that,
I can't think of anyone else who's written anything of that nature...

No you got it wrong. I wasnt offended in fact i like it because its funny. For example in the real FMP show it shown in Ep3 that souske was a panty thief that was funny. This is what i meant like little mistakes like what souske did thru kanames eyes it shows that its a Huge Mistake. Or ive been talking to Souls_Leader about his story and he gave me some insight in his fic. As he said some parts of it BOP (Band of perverts) would love, but it doesnt mean that it would be offensive. Take the basis of the fics to you real life. Are you going to scratch your crotch if your infront of a woman. No right because theyll think either your not have been taught well or worse a pervert. Since some people dont know that its hillarious on what are the consequences. From Souske kissing Mizuki in episode 8. That is what i meant on tension being funny.

Okay, from what I can decipher here, we're basically raping the original storyline because we pair off Sousuke and Kaname instead of keeping up the sexual tension?

I don't think we're (and I'm speaking for all the fanfic authors here, including the currently MIA dd) really just throwing the characters together without a second thought. A lot of thought goes into the fics, and though I've seen a few stories that were beyond godawful and did indeed just basically slap Kaname and Sousuke together, they're over at fanfiction.net, not here. I just hope that some of said authors don't find their way over here, because then I have to subscribe to the "if you don't like it, don't read it" school of thought, which is far too immature for my tastes.

The trick in fanfiction is to maintain the characters' original personas while at the same time accurately depicting how they would react to any given situation, i.e. the plot. Any serious writer will all but sweat blood to make sure that the cast is in-character. I know that both myself and cultnirvana go out of our way to make sure the characters are written accurately, and dd practically has writing Kaname and Sousuke down to a fine science. I'm sure the other authors feel the same way; bad fanfiction comes from either a lack of research or a lack of concern for the original series for which the author is writing.

I also have a bit of an issue with the "the story is funny when there is sexual tension" idea. That's fine for humor fics, of course, but for drama? There can be bouts of humor in the middle of a dramatic fic, of course, but for the most part, you don't go into a fic with a drama and/or angst categorization and expect to find Fumoffu-style hilarity. I've yet to see a story that combined high-stakes drama and abstract craziness in one story, and frankly, I don't think I'd care to.

In fanfic, there are quite a few things to keep in mind if you want to write accurately and well. First, keep the characters true to themselves. It's not always easy (I've always said that FMP is one of the hardest fandoms for which I've written), but it has to be done. There is no compromise on this. Second, make sure you know your plot. I give my fellow writers great credit in this category; if you don't know what your plot is, you're going to get two chapters in and wonder where the hell you're going to go from here. And third--this is a nitpick on my part, but I don't care--grammar and spelling. They count; accept it. One of the authors over on fanfiction.net speaks English as her third language, behind Mandarin and Swedish, but she's incredibly well-read and has her stories looked over before she posts them. If your grammar and spelling are atrocious, I won't read your fic, and neither will most people.

I'm sorry if I'm getting a bit abrasive here, but I can't say I'm not a bit offended. A tremendous amount of work goes into fic-writing, even my tiny drabbles, if you can believe it, and to have it implied that we just disregard "sexual tension" in the accepted canon for the sake of mushiness and supposedly out-of-character romanticism strikes a bit of a nerve.

Just my two cents' worth, of course.

TabingIlog - you know, I write stories how I want to see it. Not how others want to see it.

So, write your own and show me (or who ever the offending authors are) how you think it ought to be done! (The more fanfics the better....evil grin - nothing better than prodding people into writing...)

I think this is my first post here, but been a lurker for awhile However, I love reading these fanfics...they're a great compliment to the anime. I love Dave-D's (known as dd here) fanfics, I reread his all the time and check daily on fanfiction.net or here to see if he has any new ones. (I'm having Dave-D withdrawals with no new stories ) I read every single one here and on other sites, just keeps me entertained until the new season. Everyone does a nice job with his/her fics.

Yeah i agree with Anysia. I also agree with you after all everyone it is only an opinion. So Cmon guys stop having free shots at her . I was tempted a while ago so keep your cattle prods and some self-control. Besides you will see how she writes because she is writting an Episode (more like a character synopsis) for me I cant wait TabingIlog.

Hey a little fun fact TabigIlog means Next to a river. It was a pen name for a national hero of the Philippines Jose Rizal and it was a name off a show you ha watching to much pinoy shows
