Chapter Two
When the attacks had started Brie was up on the battlements watching the sun rise. At first she didn’t realize what all the noise was until she saw her boyfriend racing toward her. He was yelling and waving his arms.
“Hey, Brie! Get off the battlements! Another attack is coming. You have to get off the battlements, I don’t want you to get hurt, please hurry.” He said hurriedly.
“I don’t want to leave the battlements.” She insisted. “I want to see the battle unfold and to see the dragons kick their buts again.”
“You always do. I know, how about I let you ride on Brend with me.”
“Are you serious! I would be honored. Do you think Brend would allow me to? Especially in battle.”
“I’m definite. Besides, he’s used to you being on him and around me. You’re probably more attached to him than anyone besides myself.”
“That’s what I thought, but what about Juatan? Do you think he’ll allow it or just get really pissed?”
“What he doesn’t know won’t hurt him, right?
“I guess. Let’s get ready.”
A few minutes later they emerged from their private rooms they were dressed in riding gear made from cured weir hide.
-Where have you been?-Brend inquired.
“I was getting Brie off the battlements and getting ready to fight. By the way, Brie will be coming with us for the fight and you’re not to complain or inform Juatan, is that clear?”
-I wouldn’t dream of telling Juatan or complaining because of all people you chose to love her and only her.-
“Thank you.”
As he helped Brie up, Kyle explained what Brend and he had been talking about. She just got situated and listened. The only part she didn’t enjoy was the take off because she bruised her butt. As soon as they were air-born Brend headed for the battle scene(which was, what seemed like, total pandemonium in the air). There were dragons diving, soaring, pulling out of dives, and coming in for landings all at once. From her point of view, Keerly thought everything and everyone looked like ants scurrying around to get what they need done, done. It was as if the only people that mattered were Kyle and her. The only way this moment could be ruined was if Juatan found out or something happened to one of them.
