while you're at it, lose Windows Movie Maker too...
Hit up Google for some sites, or ask around for help. Our Mod Killer has
alot of experience in video.

But actually that's not the main idea of my critique. Unlike your others, I
had a REALLY hard time stringing together any connection between your
chosen scenes and the music... jumping Sousuke between all his adventures
in Vol2 Fumoffu made it really hard to follow where you were going or
what you wanted to say, whether your focus was on Sousuke only,
Sousuke & Kaname or Bonta-kun. As well, lose WMM as your editor tool.
Call me a cantankerous demanding b*stard, but I'm kinda hoping you're
working towards developing your craft, trying new techniques and tools
and not sticking to the tried and true. After two or three AMVs under
your belt, I'd've figured you'd be willing to try some more complex effects

Adobe Premiere is my editing software of choice. I just use WMM to reduce the file size once the video is completed.

All you really need to do is change the export settings in your premier project to use a different codec to encode the output. There is absolutly no reason to use WMM. You are actually wasting alot of time using it, and causing additional abberration in the output video due to cross format decode-encode-decode-encode.

What Codec do you recommend?

Divx, MPeg Video 4, or (if you really insist) WMV9.

Audio should always be Mpeg Audio Layer 3, to prevent compatibility issues.

You would then multiplex the 2 as an AVI. Although you can use 0gg, there may be compatibility and playback issues.

I normally use MPegV4 and MPegAL3 multiplexed as an AVI. I never have people complaining about not being able to play it back, and compression vs. quality is very good.

Just remember to insert a deinterlace effect onto your video clips before rendering, otherwise you'll get "venetian blinds".

MPEG files haven't been working on my computer recently.

Probably because you installed a bum codec.

Install it and load a video that isn't working on your system. It will then tell you what codec your machine is trying to use. then either uninstall the codec or find an update.

It didn't help.

YOu'd have to run it multiply to get rid of all your bad mpeg codecs.

Also, you may want to look at what splitter its using to seperate the audio and video streams.

Also, when you unistall the codec make sure all traces of it has been deleted. Some uninstallers just remove the registrey entries but not the actual files.

This is the reason why I only use tried-and-true codecs (like the k-Lite codec pack).

My personal 0.02c?

- Install DivX (any), it's the easiest codec for Joe n00b to get

- get a DivX bitrate calculator

- dump the DVD or your desired clips over to your hdd using a LOSSLESS
codec (like Huffyuv), it'll eat up space like there's no tomorrow, but it'll
give your intermediate file(s) the best quality till you render it.

- use said bitrate calc to get a good filesize. Sacrifice audio quality to get
more video quality. 1000kbps for your video should be what you shoot for.

- use deinterlace. Premiere 6.5 does have it, but I can't vouch for it's
quality of output. Alternatively use DivX's builtin deinterlacer

Unforunately, you have to use codec packs (and my Adobe DS wrapper) if you need to use fansub directy with Premiere Pro. :/
