Always wondered about the blue hair...
Wasn't Kaname portrayed as having black hair in the mangas/novels etc. I've always wondered then how come she has blue hair in the Anime? To make her more unique or something?

"Can I help you?, "you know this section is.." she broke off her sentence as the man walked towards her and nodded, "I think you can Captain".
Tessa looked down, "I haven't been called Captain in 4 years," Wha..what do you want?"
He gave her a devious grin, "I'm here to make sure you keep your promise."

In a black and white manga, their choices in hair color are going to be limited, so I wouldn't expect it to be any color except black or white or some mix of the two.
Still, I find it interesting that in both the manga and the novels, in any color images they show, Kaname has blue hair. So I guess it's not anime exclusive, though in the novels, when refering to her hair color, he does say it's black.
For the purposes of writing, I like to say it's blue, just because it's that much more interesting. I mean, you know what they say about blue-headed girls, don't you?
...Me either.

Yeah... the manga and novel illustrations are all in B+W but both also feature color cover and insert art, as well as color promo art for the ads and magazines they run in.Pyrite wrote:I think he might mean cover illustrations.
Blue is a very common way to color or highlight black hair- even in the US. (Wonder Woman and Archie's Veronica often have blue highlights, for examples.)
And anime/manga use hair colors partly differentiate between characters, but also often to suggest or imply personality traits.
But, in the case of FMP, I think it's just that the 'fake-world' versions of real world versions were used - ie, Kaname's 'real' hair is black, Sousuke's hair is brown, Tessa's super pale blonde. Melissa's is black too....but it'd be less fun if they both had blue hair. There's no cotton-candy pink hair, no sky blue... ect. Semi-realistic
but it seems a little silly to talk about the 'real-world' hair concept...
The audience applauded, even though it was not clear what Bush meant.

Well, yeah, but I think her hair is colored beyond just "highlights" for shading.Jae wrote:Blue is a very common way to color or highlight black hair- even in the US. (Wonder Woman and Archie's Veronica often have blue highlights, for examples.)
But yeah, it's probably used for making the characters a little more unique from one another. The insert to the DVD actually says her hair is blue in the bio, so for the purposes of that, I guess it's supposed to be blue.
...It also mentions her bust size for some reason.
PS: Hey, I've already become a water balloon. Hooray!

Yes, that's why I feel a little silly talking about it. But people insist on making comparisons between fiction and reality, myself included, and FMP is an excellent example of a semi-realistic style anime, tempting that comparison even more.Weltall Elite wrote:The insert to the DVD actually says her hair is blue in the bio, so for the purposes of that, I guess it's supposed to be blue.
The hair colors in FMP 'translate' very well.
