"Can I help you?, "you know this section is.." she broke off her sentence as the man walked towards her and nodded, "I think you can Captain".
Tessa looked down, "I haven't been called Captain in 4 years," Wha..what do you want?"
He gave her a devious grin, "I'm here to make sure you keep your promise."

Yes that was kinda disappointing BUT hey, at least they were together at the end, kiss or no kiss. It was still worth it as well as seeing ALOT of the cute moments of them together. I think they would've kissed in eps 6 if it weren't for Kurz interupting the moment *borrows Chidori's fan and smacks Kurz with it*

A number of anime endings have served to piss me off. Surprisingly enough I was pleased with the FMP ending. It was warm, cozy with an uplifting feel that they will become closer eventually. I have a few thoughts about the end.....

First is that Sagara and Chidori are still developing a relationship. Mostly, Sagara is learning how to be around non military people. He's growing attached to Chidori. Metaphorically speaking his romantic side is just begining to bloom. I mean he took her to a very personal and special place.

About the kiss. Remember, this is anime. The Japanese have a different culture and kissing is treated completely different over there. A kiss in Japan is a big honkin deal. Why do you think anime characters got so upset when their First Kiss is accidental or stolen? Additionally, a kiss is considered very erotic. In many cases, parents will not kiss in front of their children. So given that FMP is anime, the likelyhood of Sagara and Chidori kissing at the end is..... zilch, nada, no way jose.

So there's my $0.02 on the ending.

Now I have a question. In the last episode, Tessa is looking at a vending machine. Chidori says to Sagara "you better tell her." He walks over and begins to talk to her. Tessa bursts into tears and hugs Sagara.

WHAT DID HE SAY TO HER?

No idea what he says to Tessa.
I have that book and keep meaning to try to find that part, but ...
the idea makes my head hurt a little bit.

I sort of suspect, that since they didn't but it in the anime, it wasn't in the book either. (ie, it's either the author couldn't figure something good out, the author wants us to infer or guess, or the author thinks it isn't any of our business.)

And as to the other ending- SoraKirei pretty much summed up my thoughts on it- perosnally I would have been quite ticked if it did end that way, since that would be highly out of character for both of them.

Don't forget that Sousuke's on really shaky ground when it comes to stuff like that (remember ep 8! Why would he kiss her anyway, after what she said to him at the end of that?)
The audience applauded, even though it was not clear what Bush meant.

I bet I know what he didn't say... ("Want to AS with me?)

:?
Yes... Sousuke-kun was VERY adamant in learning the rules of dating, and he is stickler to the rules in unknown environment. Someone tells you the rules for the weird land, you follow them to survive. And Sagara is the survivor. Bet it's something Chidori didn't figure in when she told him about kissing. Now SHE has to do all the work of hammering the idea into his head that when she'd like to have a kiss... Hmm... Reminds me why I like Sagara. I can't understand people without cuecards either... :o

That's a negative. (AFAIK)

This really goes back to stuff about kissing being such a big deal and the S and Ks' personalities.

This whole thing makes me wonder, if we place too much importance on a kiss (how many anime series end that way???)- I mean, if a guy kisses me I don't think 'ohhh...he *loves* me',....I think something much more cynical.

It's overall behavior that's more telling. Don't rely on a kiss, or you'll be disappointed. I can't imagine that Gatoh will have them really kiss until he's ready to really change the story dynamics. At that point, the story might be over!

I have to agree we do place a lot of value on the kiss. I think its much more romantic when a person gazes into another person's eyes. It was lame of me to bring my own preconceived notions into watching such a good anime. I actually I'm glad they didn't kiss. It was more fitting to the story. I think it would have been out of character for Sousuke to do such a bold thing as well. Well enough of my inane banter.

basically sagara doesn't know the true "meaning" of what KISS really is.. when he was playing bingo, he looked puzzled as to why people were staring at him... and after tessa kissed the winner.. he finally figured out.. and he looked VERY uncomfortable :? .. anyway,, don't give up though... i think eventually he will figure it out..(i hope^o^)

lol
we all do it :) It's human nature- a part of living, really <g>

Now that we've pretty much nailed down that it's unlikely for Sousuke initating anything, do we want to discuss Kaname's position?
I mean, for someone who's normally free with wagging her tongue (voicing her opinions!!!) she seems really really passive, romantically.

So, I don't see her getting up the guts to start anything (and I don't mean just kiss- I mean getting beyond the 'normal').
I'm not sure what her problem is either- is she just romantically shy? too inexperienced? old-fashioned (the guy initiates)? does she think it's just his turn now?
Seems to me that perhaps she doesn't really get close to anyone at all-
(scarred from being socially outcast as a kid?)
I have to wonder if it's explored in the novels more.....??? (hint hint :) )

It's problems with the both of them, that are going to prevent things from getting off to an easy start. But it sure makes for more amusing story <g>
