My question is how sensei ([ecs]Gauron[/ecs]) had time to forge such a close, near fanatical connection with the girls. Leonard hinted that the twins were members of Amalgam but no longer due to their true allegience to sensei coming to the fore. I don't see sensei /caring/ or /wanting/ to have the burden of the girls before [ecs]he was barely alive after Arbalest showed Venom who was stronger[/ecs]. So why the fanatical devotion of the girls over [ecs]a man who they were basically nurses for[/ecs]?

And maybe I'm already misremembering, but when Kaname had her weapons laid out, she took a gun to go after Wraith. She only used the taser on Mr. Salaryman.

IIRC, in the novel, [ecs]wasn't Gauron the one who raised the twins?[/ecs] My memory is a little hazy.

Well if you look in the situation of the middle east, seemingly it doesn't take a long time to condition a child, (6 year olds barely holding a gun screaming for a fatwah), if the life they had was hell and he was the "angel" sugardad that took them away. It (c)would create a strong bond. She took a "stungun" aka Taser

Eh, it's not unnatural to develop a strong bond with your 'sensei'...As far as I know, stockholm syndrome is something that relates rather specifically to hostages...there's no indication their 'sensei' didn't care to them as if they were his own children.

Such a thematic is well known within japanese media...a pair of similarly evil twins appear in escafloune(who are remarkably similar to these twins overall), and while their allegiance was towards the evil of that series, it was out of devotion to a man who saved them.
Is it just me, or are there way too many talking decapitated heads around these days?

Heh, I almost forgot about Naria and Eriya. Still Folken was a little more likable compared to Gauron. :)

This episode was awesome. Didn't deviate from the novel much. The Arastols are way cooler in the anime than in the novel, so cool.

The assassin, I don't even have their names memorized, in episode 3 hit Mao's P90 which she used to block with, and her shoulder, which was because of the gun's recoil, and her rapid fire. You can't really start trying to unload your magazine to kill your opponent if you don't even try to balance the gun's sight after the initial recoil. I think with all those stray bullets with the assassin in this episode was what the animators try to do with "enemy shooting a lot, but hero/heroine employs evasive maneuvers, and then somehow escape the enemy" kind of thing.

The assassin throwing only one knife? I wanted to see a stream of assorted knives, giving Leonard's coat thing a work out. Seems that the assassins actually feel love, if only for each other and maybe their sensei. It was actually pretty touching seeing the usually emotionless killer reaching out for her sister in her throes of death. A pretty good ending to the assassin. Good thing in the anime all the Arastol did was break her neck, I don't know what it would have looked like if it had executed what it did in the novel, a lot to stomach, heh, double meaning...

Only problem I have with this episode was with the guy being on Kaname that long, obviously for fan service, more than a little too far in my opinion. Just like in the novel, the assassin was emotionless and not rushing. The assassin's favorite weapon has to be the machete, doesn't go anywhere without one. The Arastols, so awesome...

Edit: About Leonard offering his coat, just remember that if he did, he would have given her a coat that can repel flying knives and bullets.
I don't remember the novels saying anything about the Arastol's face armor flip/revealing characteristic. Now with all those Arastols and the Leviathons animated from Dancing Very Merry Christmas...

that thing that "repels flying knives and bullets" is the ruggy cape on the astrals, not leonard's coat

I'm pretty sure the novels said it was HIS coat.

Yeah, like in Continuing On My Own, ECS, [ecs]Sousuke fired on Leonard, but Leonard's coat flashed instantly to repel the bullets. I think it also said that the Arastols didn't even have time to move. Leonard was also asking Sousuke something about not being able to kill him even if his Arastols weren't close or fast enough, implying his coat. When are they going to reveal Sousuke's plan against it?[/ecs]

I'm pretty much sure Arastols don't have bulletproof coats. In Dancing Very Merry Christmas, the AP bullets were repelled by the Arastol's strong bulletproof armor, which is underneath the coat. The coat and hood is to pretty much to disguise them. If you want more stuff on his coat, read Boku-Tachi's scanlation of the End of Day by Day, where of course, we see his coat in action for the first time, it's pretty descriptive in detailing that it was Leonard's coat and not the Arastols.

They don't need bulletproof coats. They're practically bulletproof already.

Death to Leonard! And his fagging coat, too! I freaked out my man cause I was yelling at the screen watching this one. There is NO WAY they can wrap this up to my satisfaction in only four more eps.
To quote my six-year-old the first time he saw Fumoffu - "Wow! A giant hamster with a machine gun! Super cool!"
