Ambiguous: Who does Sagara like?

Can you imagine the sparks flying and cat claws if Sousuke ever admitted feelings for both? oy...

I think Sousuke thinks Tessa is pretty, and gets uncomfortable due to the fact that he knows she likes him and it wouldn't be appropriate for them.

The thing that is the BIGGEST point in favor of Sosuke liking Tessa over Kaname is the fact that when you watch the series you see that Sosuke defineitly sees Tessa as a woman before Kaname.

How? .. pls. explain it to me.
Imo he sees her as his superior first, maybe in a distant future as woman.
Not to mention that he breaks the rules to save kaname,

Sosuke blushes, gets VERY uncomfortable (as he in he gets HOT), and is desperately trying to keep his hands to himself around his madame Captain.

That's because it's unheard of that a mere Sergeant could have / start a relationship with a Captain, again it's againt the very rules Sousuke lives by.

Sosuke is almost unable to relate to Kaname in any terms resembling that of a friend let alone a boyfriend/girlfriend because he's so mission orientated.
Somehow that seems to be less of a problem with Tessa than it does with Kaname.

Sousuke is unable to relate with anything alive that isn't in the military <g>

Actually during the beach scene Tessa was holding on to Sousuke for dear life. He was scrambling to get out from under her. And I don't think he would ever, under any circumstances, put the moves on Tessa.

Kaname on the other hand, well... Lets watch both anime, read all the manga, all the novels then decide who the young Sgt. has feelings for.

In our intergrated military actually its quite common for relationships between people not under each other's command.

To be blunt, Teletha Tessarossa is in the NAVAL branch of Mithril and Sergeant Sagara is a pilot.

Also we have no idea that there's any fraternization rules or the like in a mercenary outfit like his.

Basically, whenever I watch Full Metal Panic I notice that Sagara isn't looking at Kaname like a girl whenever they are together. Sagara hardly gets the anime signs he's hot or uncomfortably thinking "wow, whatever is nearby me is female." The manga too, Sagara doesn't notice the sexy swimsuit of Kaname but is thinking about her protection.

I think he thinks of her as mission first then GRADUALLY comes to see her as a person then gradually further still as a friend.

That's a hell of a long road there!

Yet when Teletha pops up he sees her as an officer then becomes EXTREMELY aware she's a woman. I think his uncomfortableness is the fact that he's unused to dealing with an attraction to anything female but has been asexual for most of his life. Teletha Testarossa is awakening what he never suspected he felt in his life.

The scene at the end of the series with Tessa was one where it was ambigious but could VERY EASILY be read as saying

"Don't worry Captain. I'll never leave your side. I...I...love you."

While the Fishing scene I point out is ambigious whether there's any romantic feeling at all too it! Sagara may just want to show he's friendly to her.

I like the love triangle and am BRASSED OFF that its not a big part of Full Metal Fum. I am also squarely rooting for Tessa.

Come on, I can't really see anyone thinking that Chidori makes a better partner for Sagara. She served a valuable purpose in helping Sagara live a more balanced life but Tessa and he should sail off into the sunset together.

As a note though, the anime, novels, and manga are all slightly different universes too.

And to confirm I hope others will join me in defending their relationship

now, I think that even though sousuke is a pilot, Tessa is still his immediate commanding officer, as he was assigned to that branch. also, u r right that it's kinda ambiguous during the fishing scene.
but now, like u stated, kaname helped S live a more balanced (normal) life... S can't be a soldier forever, and if he hooks up with T he'll never enjoy civilian life because she doesn't try. and in the novel white text all spoiler they said that the only reason T likes S is because her former love objective (the chief engineer of ARX7 suicided) so now she is "forced" to like S. I don't think that's a very healthy basis for a relationship.

As a note. I consider the novels and the manga/anime to be three seperate universes. However, the fact that Tessa started crushing because she lost someone is no reason to disregard her feelings. Sosuke has saved her life a dozen times over since then, has shown her compassion, and he's also been her friend.

Sosuke can measure his friends on barely two hands now. Melissa, Tessa, Kainlin, Shinji, Tessa, Eric, and Kaname

Tessa I think can do it on one hand. Sosuke, Kaname (I think she's now her best friend), Melissa, and her commanders

It's weird but I think Tessa's loneliness is very compelling and really something that I want to see addressed. Chidori, whom I love, is able to have any boy she wants I'm sure but poor Tessa is stuck on a submarine of people she can't relate to. Sosuke shares the same isolated existence she does though and I like the idea of them 'comforting' each other.

Besides, what's wrong with Sosuke being a lifer? He's good at being in the military and its not like Hero Yui where his life is hell. He enjoys it even as he could do well to have a little more civilian time off.

I see the Tessa relationship as like Zechs/Noin really from Gundam wing while Kaname is the Relena to his Hero Yui. AND WE KNOW WHO ENDED UP WITH WHO

I don't underestimate the point that Kaname has done alot for him but frankly Kainlin is probably who messed up Sosuke's mind. I also think that again....she's more a friend than a lover. I just don't see any attraction between them really.

Nobody fear, I'm not gonna get into this too deeply.

I just wanna first say that you can consider them all that way, but not everyone does. Each has some plot variations, manga is arranged differently from anime, but all three portray the same story, the same characters, the same major plot themes. Gatoh is showing us the same stuff and the differences are minor.

And Sousuke becoming someone who is not a lifer is a huge part of it all. Basically, the robotic Sousuke discovering life beyond the military and finding humanity- Kaname's the bridge to that.

Also, alot of the situations you point to are just how you interepret them.
But it's easy to either interpret them in another way, or show how even your interepretation of them can reach a different conclusion.

Well if you say Sosuke views Tessa as a friend then I can say the say about Kaname.

Basically its all the same characters but the way they are read is entirely different, depending on the series. Like Bubblegum Crisis 2040 vs. Classic its yes Linna Yamasaki but she's a very different gal

I'm also a bit over my jealousy of fictional characters stage of life (ICHIRO OGHAMI! YOU WILL NEVER HAVE SAKURA! NEVER!).....kinduv. Besides with Black Technology we can certainly populate the world with Tessa clones! ;-)

I think Sosuke can strike a healthy balance with his military life vs. his civilian life personally. Unlike say Hero Yui whose life as a soldier is nothing but Hell, Sosuke is an AS pilot and the world is filled with terrorists that he does immense good by fighting. Until the Soviet Union falls I think Sosuke SHOULD and WILL devote himself to fighting evil.

The only aspect of FMP that this covers is how he can do stuff OTHER than such but it never says he should STOP in my opinion.

As for Sousuke, I don't know how it will turn out in the end but I'm not sure he would necessarily have to quit. But he's been living such an extreme his whole life, he has to go extreme the other way before he can find a balance- how will he know where a balance is if he only has a true accounting of one?

Oh, and if I were Sousuke I'd be terrified of Tessa regardless of if I was attracted to her or not- Just look at how Mardukas would react....

As Taurec said, a few hardcore Tessa-fans may disagree with who should
be to Tessa' left during that ceremony, but hey, I think Tessa'd look better
in a wedding dress than Kaname I don't know if you can hide a
small enough halisen inside the hem of a dress to get Sousuke to the altar,
but you can sure hide a small enough gun

Another consideration is we have a FanWorks Section. By all means
start drafting ideas for a SxT wedding scene
