Ok, before I get to the point I'm telling the admins that they can feel free to delete/lock this topic if this has been discussed in-depth before. I've also posted a spoiler warning in the topic so I won't be using ECS. You've been warned
So, here's the deal: I believe that Kalinin is not only alive after the end of COMO, but for some reason the very betrayer who leaked (more or less) the knowledge needed by Amalgam to effectively attack Mithril like they did. I know Amalgam could easily have other means to obtain such intel, but when you look at all the tiny details after his meeting with Leonard, you just know that something is up.
Alright, many of you already know this, so why this topic? The reason is that I want to get closer to the reason, as in WHY did (assuming he did) Kalinin betray/defect/sell out Mithril? I want all the theories and discussions about this matter in one topic, since I believe this hasn't been done before. I can add little more to the discussion without your input so feel free to post away
Maybe his acting as double agent. He gives information for Amalgam and then he uses they trust to fight them. It would not be odd to see him strike back to Amalgam as they would let him near. Maybe by messing with Amalgam's weapons, computers and sensors to enable Sousuke and other faithful Mithril mercenaries to destroy they enemies more easily.

That's a very good point... Leaking some info to Amalgam while making sure TDD gets to escape with most of it's crew intact, I can imagine that kind of conclusion.
However I can imagine a plot twist regarding this considering Leo ain't THAT stupid...
They both probably know the risks but have decided that they still need the other's help. When the moment comes when one is not useful anymore, we'll probably see the double-cross.
Like I said in another thread, I can't help but think that we're supposed to suspect Kalinin, only for him to pull off a heroic triple-cross and get himself killed in the second-last installment of FMP. *shrug* So I'm a cynic.
