On a good day, a Tomahawk can fly into the door of a two-car garage at the distance of several hundred miles. And that can ruin your whole day.

Really I've been saying the same thing, but then I wasn't thinking fifteen seconds of anything, ever, could be quite that horrendous.HELLFIRE wrote:I've been thinking that since I heard GSEED2 was confirmed.... well, enjoy all!Mal wrote:I want those fifteen seconds of my life back.

The more I think about it, the more this could turn into Zeta...
You've got the fresh faced, idealistic youngster (Camille/Shin) with a brand spanking new, technologically advanced Gundam (which will almost certainly be obsolete halfway through the series and require an upgrade of some sort, possibly passing the older model on to one of his friends), the skilled veteran with a heart of gold (Char/Athrun)... And I guaruntee Kira will show up but be afraid to go back into combat because he's afraid of seeing Frey or something.
Of course, Athrun isn't a Beloved Hero of the People that Char was so maybe it won't be exactly like that. Even if it is, a remake of Zeta isn't necessarilly a bad thing...

"The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish, and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and goodwill, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down on thee with great vengence and furious anger, those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers, and you will know my name is The Lord when I lay my vengence upon thee." - Jules, Pulp Fiction

And what's this about more GSEED Specials, there's something like 4 now...
AFAIK there were only two and they were basically the whole 50eps
recapped into two 1hour specials

The specials are rather good, and no, there are definately more than two.
First special covered the beginning (duh) all the way to the Lacus tradeoff.
Second special covered the annihilation of the seventh to the end of the desert story.
Although not much was added, there were a few ups and downs:
- Seeing Rusty (UP): Was nice to get a face and personality to go with the name. He seemed to be the strongest of the five, as even Isaac was unusually quiet around him.
- 'Zips' Musical Interlude (UP): Covered both the initial fight in the desert as well as the Frey/Kira relationship. Very cool.
- Cagalli fanservice (DOWN): Although I'm a fan of Cagalli, I didnt think this scene was very well done or really added anything. Meh.
I'm looking forwards to seeing the others.
Also just saw the Destiny trailer... Maybe it was a little cheesy, but I didnt think it looked that bad...

Considering it was pretty much made to replicate the success of MSG, I guess we shouldn't have been surprised. And, well, the audience they were aiming for was mostly new fans, rather than us old men (they say "It can appeal to both!", but we know where their heart is in this case). But remakes of old series/comics/etc. designed to appeal to a new generation have been done before with great results, even managing to retain the backing of the MOST old fanbase, so SEED did something wrong. That thing: No new, visible blood on the project. There aren't very many completely new ideas in SEED (and the ones that do exist just don't catch the eye...Minmei 2.0: Jailbait Edition doesn't count). In all the successful remakes of the past, they've added SOMETHING new that really gets your attention: Outrageous, unique takes on old character designs and plot ideas, moving everything to a different setting and poking around to make it work, and other things straight from left field. SEED had that old coot who's been doing robot designs for way, way too long come back again and used Mr. I've-Never-Heard-Of-People-With-Different-Faces for the characters. That alone would've nearly completely nullified any exciting new plot twists and there were never any of those either. So, in conclusion to my gigantic statement of the obvious: They're running this franchise on Zombie Mode and sticking "Gundam" to it.Mal wrote:Well, since SEED was a blatant plagiarism of First Gundam, I'd amost be surprised if Destiny was anything other than a Zeta rip.
And no, I don't know why I'm posting here either.

...another Destiny promo out again by Shi-Fa. As interesting as it was,
I WANT those 2m40sec of my life back!!!
Seens Destiny's drawing it's plot from the Battle of Orb, and how everything
went kablooie after Orb wouldn't submit to the Alliance's 'request' to
'lend' them their orbital mass driver. Tho wasn't it KIRA than ATHRUN
that was the 'young man who lost his sister & parents before his eyes
and flew away on a gundam?'
Chars so far:
Shinn Asuka (young Athrun) -- Impulse Gundam
Lunamiaria Hawke
Athrun Zala -- Orb Vice Supervisor
*insert quick view of Lacus (singer) and Milly (photographer)
Gilbert Dullinai -- Supreme Chairman
Sting Oakley -- Chaos Gundam
Auel Neider -- Abyss Gundam
-- these two look like clones of the three psychos at the end of SEED1
Stellar Loussier - Gaia Gundam (blonde girl)
Rey Za Burrel (requisite androgynous type) --Zaku Phantom Gundam
Talia Gladys (Natalie deadringer) -- Minerva (ship) captain
Meyrin Hawke (seems they CAN't get rid of Frey at ALL!! AAAAARRRRGH!!)
The last saga to decide it all, huh... nice OP music, I'll give them that
Well, Oct 9th is the start date for broacast. Who's got their fingers over
the d/l button?
Regards
