July 5 the party seems to start ... now i don't know yet what's it about, but on the animecon i heard some stuff (the usual it's gonna be great drool info) .. But studio Xebec has the resources to make something nice of it .. (Stellvia..)

The city transforming was intriguing...(found preview this morning on some Bt link...)

(I know I should never trust Japanese anime titles - put the title is part of what has me intruigued...)

The OP was rather enjoyable. Tropical island setting, what LOOKS like
girls -- you never know when some animatior decides to screw with your
head on a char's gender, Super Robot and Defender City type setup...

Caught episode one,

It has some NGE / Godanner moments (the city turning into a armed fortress, yadda )

But i'm happy to report that the main char.. actually seems to have a spine.


animation wise

XEBEC did a good job. ... it's looks great ... and in this episode you get to meet some interesting characters, who really need further investigation.

The whole episode was quite balanced and didn't bore me for a second.

right now it's safe to watch .... and on my watch list.

( do watch the ED. it shows some interesting stuff)

Ep 3 was nice .... seems that the island has got some tricks up it's sleeve.


/me is happy .. still no sign of shinji behavior

I picked up this show recently on a whim, and I definately like it. There's always a new surprise around the corner it seems. That, and they choose the moment you want to know what happens next to end the episode. They don't pull punches... through episode 9, you have 2 of the kids dead or close to dead--Shouko and Kouyou.

I wonder what the girl in the red tank is for. I know her analog on the abandoned island created the festum when freed. Does it mean she's encased in that tank to keep more festum from being created? If so, that's like having an armed bomb sitting on your living room table. Or do they use her to join Soushi to the pilots? I'm guessing because Soushi's system has the red background and colors his skin the same way hers is.

A final question... who does the short narration at the end of each episode before the credits roll? For some reason, I think it's Soushi, but that's a mixture of gut instinct and guesswork.
