Well, I have finished another older series and will post about it. Yes, it is my personal quest to watch all the more famous series out there and see what the deal is
. Um, below contains little
spoilers.
1/3 through Nadesico and I have no clue what to think of it... other than a parody. And with Gekiganger it's a parody within a parody, there's some literary/film term for this that my professor taught me but I can't quite remember anymore... Though it's sci-fi and a warzone, everyone is so cheerful and energetic. The jokes are slapstick and, I admit, funny. So after watching more of it and viewing a binkini/beach episode and an idol-search episode, and seeing the love triangle become a hexagon... I realize this is really
Love Hina in space
. The captain reminds me of a spaztic Kaname
who's more open with her emotions... okay, she's not like Kaname at all other than her looks. Something interesting though: the last episode when Akito slaps Yurika when they are together in the cockpit of the Aestheval (sp?) to get her to get a grip, you only hear the slap in the Japanese dub but don't see it; in the English dub it's censored out. The last episode do get more serious and finally focus the crew on their goal. Overall, I liked this series
.

Nadesico, .. god i love it ...
The humor of it .. and their big wink at the fandom was hilarious,
i won't forgive em for killing Guy Daigoji !! the only true anime hero
and for the record megumi wasn't a bitch just was just competing.
oh the short Gekiganger movies are funny as hell .. it's the crew going to the movies and they show a full gekiganger episode ....... JOOOOOEEEEEEEE !!!!! <g>
You should watch the movie ... but dammit after you see it there is only one thing to do ..... that's cry because the #$#@@#$ won't make a conclusion .....

Oh yea, there's a movie... Oooo... dunno when I'll be able to get my hands on it though =\. I can't wait
.
Great Avatar, Killer
. You know, I've always wonder what that white stick that hangs at Yurika's belt is. Maybe it's a weapon, lightsaber of sorts but I never saw her use it.

Should I watch it?
I've given up on watching "the classics," as I'd much rather watch relatively newer anime (Trigun and Bebop are rotting on my HDD).

I've watched the first couple of the TV eps and had me alternating between
staring in disbelief and/or confusion and rolling in the aisles for oxygen
...tho you might want to familiarize yourself with the background info
before attempting the movie. I knew the basics for the main chars,
but when it came for Akito's reintro scene, it kinda threw me as I never
knew exactly WHAT happened to make him and what's-her-name disappear.
Methinks Ruri & Tessa look like long-lost sisters tho

it could be a dagger or a halisen ..... commanders always seem to have those and point with it .... when engaging in battle

. Yea, I saved your avatar on my HD the first time I saw it ;-).
Tsushima Masaki: If you like Love Hina then you'll enjoy Nadesico. What I've been doing ever since I got into anime, is looking at favorite/best lists and watching them whenever I get my hands on it. Along with recommendations from friends (I would've never watched Hikaru no Go if my friend didn't keep telling me how good it is. I mean, com'on, an anime about a board game? :p). ANN has a very good rating system and I've been going through the "top" lists.
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclo ... -anime.php
But there are stuff on the top50 that I'm not gonna watch like the dark, slow, moody stuff like Wolf's Rain because Witch Hunter Robin turned out to be only so so, I didn't like Noir that much and I don't understand why people like Raxephon so much :p. So yea, my advice is just watch the highly rated/popular stuff of the genres you like first and if you're bored you can check out the others.

Allright now you've done it you.... you... you.... Bush voter
Insulting my pet series. What is more worthy making a series about then obtaining "the hand of god" (a.k.a. the ultimate move)????????? And what is weird about a ghost in a dress who helps him with it????? It's just a soap like many others about a kind of sports or game. I just happen to like it because it is about go.

Ah, well Love Hina was enjoyale for me... but hating the lead female basically killed anymore love for that series.
I only really watched it because I wanted to see what all the hype was about.
I just registered at ANN, and I'm gonna take some time compiling my list of anime.
