re ComicCon
The third Con I've attended this year, less anime more comic books,
but hey... Pretty much was a ball of nerves 24 hours before making
it down to San Diego, largely 'cuz this was almost an on-the-fly thing
for me. My tickets were just confirmed on the flight day, I hadn't gotten
a room booked to stay in... never mind the paranoid boiling in my mind
as to WHAT awaited me down in SD...
Anyways, nightflight, yada yada yada...
Met up with CPO Klerk, who was kind enough to take me around the
dealer area... and DAMN!! what a dealer area it is!! A rough guess
would be something like 400,000sqm space this thing was occupying.
Comics, costumes, anime, DVDs, CDs, wallscrolls... ANYTHING the mind
can conjure, I can pretty much say I either saw it or it was there...
ADV, Bandai, Funimation, Geneon were present... each having varying
degrees of 'flashiness' to attract ppl: ADV had the ADV Cheerleader
Trio present, along with several TO DIE FOR!! anime panelings decorating
the booth (Chrno, Mezzo, Princess Tutu). Bandai had less flash, but
displayed a large pile of Stratos 4 and GSeed boxsets for sale. Geneon
was 3rd smallest, but had ROD TV running on an LCD display... DAMN!!
how'd one of those babies look in my living room!! Funimation didn't
have much in the way of anime for sale, bit did have this NICE Kiddy
Grade wallscroll? on display... I REALLY should've asked for a price on
it out
Memorable Moments meeting CPOK in real life, 'touching' a
JPN schoolgirl (cosplayer) some of the shots CPOK & myself connived
to take -- these WILL be posted later as soon as I can catalog them,
realizing I'm within 5km of two active-duty USN nuclear-powered carriers,
which the DoD with neither confirm nor deny have nuclear weapons on board,
AND a former First Lady in attendance for the celebration of one of those
carriers named for her late husband.... PRICELESS!!
...surprisingly, this trip wasn't as damaging to my wallet merchandise-wise
as my previous 'Con trips. Maybe 8 hours wasn't enough to tour the entire
floor
Soon as CPOK gets back and I catalog my shots, more info'll be posted
Regards
