Now and Then, Here and There

I watched Now and Then, Here and There over the holidays and thought it's the best 13-ep anime I've ever seen . But not enough people know about it.
It's awesome, I can't pick an all time favorite out of the couple "best" anime on my list so I just always say Kenshin is my #1 but this is one of the best definitely.
Even though the characters are mostly children, they are very involving and dynamic and they go through very adult and sad situations (murder, kidnapping, rape). The depicted war-time situation is very unforgiving without any of the sugar coating to make it a happy anime. The pacing is fast and the violence is explicit but not excessive but it makes my gut wrench more than Berserk did (you get desensitized in Berserk). The ending song is a nice slow melody that lets me catch my breath after watching each episode. 13 episodes wraps it up nicely, I love that length for anime. It's not a happy ending, but not completely sad either, so I guess it's bittersweet. THE BEST, I'm telling ya! ^_^

They have a review of it also.
