[25/02 - 12:21] <Taurec> WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH
[25/02 - 12:22] <Taurec> A recent announcement by Bandai Visual mentions a new Ghost in the Shell related anime.
Very few details are mentioned, only that the project is a cooperative effort between
Production I.G. and Bandai, and that they anticipate a release sometime soon.
The video also mentions that more news about the GItS series and other projects will be announced during and after the upcoming Tokyo International Anime Fair.
[25/02 - 12:22] <Taurec> WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!
[25/02 - 12:22] <Gauss_chan> WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!
[25/02 - 12:22] <Taurec> sorry ... that was my inner fanboy screaming.
More info, rumors and speculation
-MoonPhase has had "Ghost in the Shell: Stand-Alone Complex 3rd Season" listed with an "Under Development" under its release date for quite a while now.
-There is a possibility that this may be an anime adaptation of the GitS manga "Man-Machine Interface".
-It might be an OVA ....
So we might get more Kanno music .... maybe better animation (is that even possible <g>)
Waaaaaaaaaaah!!!!!

Solid State Society Details
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex Solid State Society, a full length movie based on Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex is currently planned for completion in the summer of 2006.
The production announcement does not specifically state release format, or date. The movie is being produced in Hi-Vision, a format used by Japanese broadcast networks to support wide-screen televisions. The same production team, including main staff, will be carried over from the TV series. The budget, while not specified, is said to be higher in order to achieve a cinematic level of production.
The 100-minute (tentative running time) movie takes place in 2034, two years after the refugee riot incident. A significantly larger Section 9, with over 20 new officers, investigates terrorist actions related to a wizard-like hacker “Kugutsu Mawashi.”
(Kugutsu Mawashi translated into English is roughly "Puppet Master." Kugutsu Mawashi is not the same as the "Puppet Master" from the first Ghost in the Shell Movie. In Japanese, the "Puppet Master" from the first movie was called "Ningyo Tsukai" which can also translated into "Puppet Master.")
The production committee will comprise Production I.G., along with Bandai Visual, Bandai Entertainment, Dentsu Corporation, Nihon TV Broadcasting (NTV), Manga Entertainment, Tokuma Publishing, and Victor Entertainment.
"And there was much rejoicing."

Story
A.D. 2034. It has been two years since Motoko Kusanagi left Section 9. Togusa is now the new leader of the team, that has considerably increased its appointed personnel. The expanded new Section 9 confronts a rash of complicated incidents, and investigations reveal that an ultra-wizard hacker named the Puppeteer is behind the entire series of events.
In the midst of all, Batou, who was stalking the case on a separate track, encounters Motoko. She goes away after saying, "Stay away from the Solid State Society." Batou is left with a doubt in his mind. Could Motoko be the the Puppeteer?
The series of intriguing incidents that Section 9 faces gradually link together almost artistically. Who is the Puppeteer? What will happen to Batou's relationship with Motoko? What is the full truth behind this carefully planned perfect crime? And what will the outcome be? Mysteries surround the Solid State Society.
This is interesting, It's not a continuation of the Stand Alone Complex storyline but to me it looks like a continuation of the original story.

Are Batou & Motoko on the same side? Or is Motoko on no one's side but her
own... very interesting angle indeed
Be nice if they had some comedy
or a comedic char in the mix this time... GITS2:Inno was way too dry IMO.

Looks pretty cool. I've seen the movies but just started watching the TV series recently. Currently at ep11 of 1st season (or do you call it gig?
). It's still kinda hard for me to believe that everyone but the extremely poor have cyberbrains when the show makes them seem so unsecure and ez to hack. Would parents install such unsafe devices on their own kids? But it looks really convenient and maybe the kids whine and cry about getting it cuz everyone has it. I'll take the bait.

You would have to install your own anti-viruses, lol. But seeing how people take advantage, it does look like a world harsh for those with cyber parts.
