Summary: At a top music academy in Japan, Shinichi Chiaki's arrogance is matched only by his top-notch piano playing. But when Chiaki and the teacher get into a fight, he's demoted to the reject class. Chiaki is left to pursue his dream of being a composer while surrounded by a bunch of loser musicians and one annoying girl, Noda, who has proclaimed herself Chiaki's girlfriend. It doesn't help that Noda, who insists on being called Nodame, lives right next door to him.
damn this ANN summary sucks <g>
I have to admit, my music teacher was a classic music nazi, we should learn about the classics if we wanted or not and of course force spooning music doesn't work, at least not with me.
imo Thunderstruck
IS a classic.
Now if he would have made a lesson showing Nodame Cantabile I might have actually picked up a fondness for the subject.
I watched the first two episodes and I seriously hope they can hold on to the romantic comedy feel this show features, before I assume, slipping away in the mediocrity of a cliche love triangle.
If this show is going to use the yakitate style of learning about the classics it will rock even more.
Anyway ... it's been a while since I watched something that didn't feature panty flashing loli's with uber boobs.
I almost gave up hope. <g>

I just watched the first episode of this series and I love it! The characters are interesting and funny and you want to find out more about them. An added plus for me is that Tomokazu Seki is voicing the male lead of Chiaki. He sounds
exactly like Sousuke!

Part of me almost wishes he change up the voice a little but, oh well, I'm not gonna complain.

I'm gonna be watching this one for sure! The music in the op and end are great too.

Just when you thought they couldn't find a bigger idiot .. a new one pops up.

I was rotfl when
He said ... "I'll show who's the better woman."
Again a pretty amusing episode.
Actually looking forward to ep4.

"She eats and goes right to the piano"
Hence, she never cleans, rarely showers ("I washed my hair 4 days ago"), etc.

I'm liking it

If anyone loves the theme song to this series, I found the video on YouTube (of all places

). It's Suemitsu the Suesmith going crazy on an all white piano. It's....interesting to say the least:

Nice to see that Chiaki's vision of poverty in ep. 6 is Hans Christian Anderson's "The Little Match Girl"!

I was wondering what was up with the little girl collapsing in the snow with the matches until my sister pointed out the reference. The story is about a poor little girl trying to sell matches in the snow, but no one buys them. At the end of the day, she sits down and lights each match, remembering a happy moment from the past until they all burn out. She ultimately ends up freezing to death

 Chiaki's pretty dramatic, isn't he?
