I'll start off by saying I'm not one of those video game nerds who think Halo is the best game ever. I don't own any consoles and I'm horrible at most video games, first person shooters especially, but they are fun anyway. To me, Halo is an ok fps, but i like the feel of realistic/WW2 guns better.

Browsing Kotaku, i found out that Halo was being animated by 5 Japanese anime studios with an episode from each to be released on BluRay and DVD in early 2010. Watched the above trailer, and I was blown away, so much so that i got shivers in my spine. Bones and Production IG! Also in the mix is the innovative Studio 4°C, venerable Toei Animation, and unknown Casio Entertainment.

I think whoever chose the studios watches a lot of quality anime, and I'm glad Gonzo was not chosen. Why is Gonzo chosen for a lot of foreign commissions anyway?

The fluid animation of Production IG and Bones' colorful explosions are apparent, and so are some meh CG of spaceships (which I abhor). I wanna see if the studios bend Halo towards a more "anime" approach, ie: Production IG having a female Spartan confront a wheelchair bound girl.

Sweet, ever since they canned the rl movie I was a little bit disappointed because the halo universe is rich enough to make a movie with an actual storyline in it.

I hope the animation will include "the making of" Spartans.
I've been reading the books and found it's an enjoyable experience.

Aww Gonzo isn't aaalll that bad...

Damn 4c and IG .... at least it's a sure bet that it will look fantastic.
MS must be paying premium....

...I'm trying to keep an open mind, but with some 'issues' with playback of that trailer,
I have to wonder how the finished product will be. The sections with the various companies
looked slick, however with the other sections with the actual inseries animation <?> showing
dropout and lag -- and I can't attribute it to my machine as I played the copy off my HDD off
several modern machines -- well, insert the comment about first impressions here.

...I'd have to agree with Tau about the LA version ending in limbo and this being
the closest we'll get to seeing Halo on the big(ger) screen.

Thx for the pointer KAAS

I found it interesting. Coming from a complete Halo fanatic (All the books, Legendary editions, every map set, every game, etc.), I can say that I find it interesting, and am really looking forward to it. :D Personally, though, as Tau said, the Halo universe is one of those places that is surprisingly deep for a game series. That's what draws me to it, at least.

My worry, though, is that this'll turn out like the animated Star Wars: Clone Wars episodes went. Remember those? On Cartoon Network? If they end up making the Halo universe sound silly, I'll be really disappointed. :(

(Then again, I never liked the original three Star Wars, so I can't really say anything. :? Ah well.)

If this 5min clip is a chunk of what we'll see, my interest level is piqued higher.
Mind you, couldn't they just have had MC shoot the guys rather than do
the whole silent approach?

Only if he's playing on Easy or Normal. :D

But seriously, one of the things that the higher levels of difficulty need more of is stealth, because the enemy DOES outnumber the MC 10 to 1, and DOES have better tech, and pretty much has everything they need to kill the MC (with the notable exception of superior brainpower).

The only thing the MC has going for him is his wits, cunning, speed, and strength. So, at that point, the best choice is stealth... >.> However, I'm still banking on some super-big battles. MWAHAHAHAHAHA!!! MOW THEM ALL DOWN! ALL OF THEM!!!
