Tall and cold... was a holiday on monday today in Noir and my neck of the woods, still spent it at work.
It was also a holiday in the States as well, so pretty quiet day, great for catching up. 'Course
tuesday was where it went to hell in a handbasket with everyone back in the office. *sighs*

As for the properties I was looking at, one I didn't enter a bid and went for around 5K less, the other
the seller didn't go for our inital offer, so will have to see if we want to raise it or not -- and it's
the cheapest but oldest of the 3.

Could be worse... this shows how you can be a winner and a loser at the same time... poor guy.

How's everyone else's week going?

Doing Semi-OK here. Had to put one of our cats to sleep. Kidney failure.

I'm also searching for a crossover SUV. We need more room. and I have to trade my car in. WAAAH!

Other than that, things are OK. Everyone is healthy and spring is here, nice weather outside. :)

Just a few more days and I can drive my bike again and engage in a new chapter of the parking wars... <g>

For a couple of months there was a extra parking spot available .. but now I will reclaim my spot .... :gauron: :glock:

So what do you US peeps consider more space? ...
Overhere a Freelander is considered pretty big..

Dunno what is considered big. I just know that it needs to be bigger than my sedan: as in carrying 2 child safety seats and 2-4 adult passengers. And a boat load of baby/toddler stuff.

I'm going to be looking at a Honda Pilot:

:-o Holy crap that is HUGE..

I hope it's diesel because if it runs on gasoline your wallet will hate you (even in the US)

What is the gas price now?

3.39 usd a gallon. Desile is worse at 6.35 usd a gallon.

It runs on regular and gets 18 miles/gallon. Its a 6 cylinder and can shut off cylinder if the load is light or its crusing. It can shut off up to 3 cylinders. But honestly I don't think it matters. Lol

Im just gonna have to get a smart or sumthin for daily driver.

It can fit 8 adults and 2 golf bags. Perfect for the 3 hr trip to PA. The painful part is that I must have that much space is I want to carry 2 baby seats and still have a way to get in the back and carry all the baby stuff with room for 1 or 2 more people.

Smaller vehicles give you a bench seat in the middle that can only hold 2 child seats and you have no way to get to the back row. Some vehicles give you the option of 2 bucket seats in the middle leaving a path into the back, but they have no room to carry anything unless you fold down both rear seats.

Worse yet is that I need a daily driver and the thought of driving a beast that large hurts my wallet. (;_; )

Gonna test drive one on Thurs. to see how it drives so I'll let you know then.

From the books its 250hp@5700rpm and 253lb-ft@4800prm (red line at 6300) with a curb weight of 4608 lbs.

Here's a quote from motor trend:

"At the track, the Pilot motored to 60 mph in 8.5 seconds and ran through the quarter mile in 16.6 seconds at 83.6 mph. Braking from 60 mph took a longish 142 feet."

As a comparison, my 2008 Subaru Legacy 3.0R does 0-60 mph in 7.6 seconds, and the quarter-mile is cleared in 15.5 seconds at 90.72mph.

But I can toss my Subie around.... without flipping it over.

Test drive went well, we did end up buying the car. Its Gunmetal Grey with a black interior, and we scored a good deal.

It's not as sluggish as I though. The tyranny does very well in picking the best gear so you never feel like its shifting inappropriately. There is lots of room and its very comfortable. The hoodline is a little on the high side, but (being 5'5") I have no problem figuring out where the front of the car is.

It of course drives like a truck (no surprise) with a bit of body roll in the turns. Stopping is as expected for a BAV (big ass vehicle), errr, SUV.

Very little road noise.

Engine info>

J35Z4 - Variable Cylinder Management

2009+ Honda Pilot
Displacement: 3,471 cc (211.8 cu in)
Bore and stroke: 89.0 mm (3.5 in) x 93.0 mm (3.7 in)
Compression: 10.5:1
Power, torque: 250 hp (190 kW) @ 5700 rpm; 253 lb·ft (343 N·m) @ 4800 rpm
Valvetrain: 24 SOHC i-VTEC
Fuel control: Multi-point fuel injection; PGM-FI

The design is a bit primitive if you ask me :/

I mean belt-drive SOHC and MPFI? Are we in the 90's?

Though not much choice. Better designs (and diesels) are out of my price range.
