So... Share with me your most terrible, untasty and even absurd mistakes about making food. Did you made a salty pie because you tought that salt was sugar? Or did you use pepper instead of cinnamon?
The thing that made me post this topic is still on process. It is called creamy salmon sauce - or it was, before I put nearly half decilitre icing sugar in it... "It looked just like potato flour. It is not my fault that some idiots keep making packages that look like each other!" Hopefully that thing will be eatable...
Unfortunately, this was not the first time I made a stupid error, and this was not even the worst mistake. I have made one that make me still blush...
At that time, I was still living with my parents. They live in apartment or something like that, connected to school as big and expensive as Hell. That school, and their home, has fire alarming system that calls fire fighters at the place right away.
There I am, happily baking meringue, nearly tasting nice sweetness in my mouth already. I hang around, waiting till my timer calls me to take meringue out of owen. It happens, and I open the owen. WHAT THE...? I am nearly stunned when gigantic cloud made of black smoke comes out. Holy shit, owen was 100 degrees too hot, I notice... No marenque today, unless you call black block marengue.
Next thing I hear is fire alarm ringing. Sound so loud even the death would like to cover their ears. And a bad part is, alarm is made in whole complex, current time in it luckily only ~100 persons... Sound can't be muted, and only thing I can do is run to the school and tell that there is no fire, but totally burned merinque. Soon fire fighters arrive, all lights flashing and sounds making, I don't remember how many cars, but more than enought. "Eep... It was an accident!"
I thank all gods propably listening that I did not make that error some hours earlier. If I did, it would have been school hours and I had been telling that miserable story to hundreds of people who just run out of their classes...
Yea, and once I burned my mom's best pot so badly that even acid did not make it good again... Thouse were kind of cool flames, though.
So, please make me feel I am not the most unsuccesful food maker ever. Share your most embaracing, fun moments with cooking!
