People are using the Web to get revenge on bad parkers, cheating partners, and more. Is it fair?

The broadcast here @ yahoo.com

Your thoughts?

Revenge is a dish best served cold.

Some people deserve it, but its too easy in some cases to misunderstand someone (or make an assumption which ends up being wrong).

For example, what would you think of this situation:

The car in front of you stops at a red light. The woman in the car then starts looking for something in the back seat. Light turns green. She then gets out of the car to better get at the back seat.

What would you think?

Action explained (think about it before revealing):
[ecs]
When she looked in the rear view mirror she saw her baby turn bright red. She turned around to see whats happening and noticed that the child was being chocked by the car seats retainer that has come loose from its mooring. She desperately tried to free the child while inside the car, then exited the vehicle to get better accessibility to the back seat.
[/ecs]

So how did you do?

I think allowing people to post such videos, specially when misunderstanding can happen, and now a days when a home computer is more than powerful enough to doctor videos/images up, is a bad idea.

I agree. All it takes is one person to start spreading ugly rumors about another person and bam! people will usually believe bullcrap about someone before they'll believe the truth. I have an ex-friend who did something like this. She got mad at me because she liked this guy who happened to be one of my best friends. He didn't feel the same way about her and even told her. She continued to press him about her feelings and I could see it was bothering him but he's just too damn nice to say anything to her. So being the good friend I was, I approached her about it and kindly asked her to stop. I was very sympathetic with her too and tried to make her see that she needed to move on but she got really angry with me.

Then I find out months later that she was spreading all these lies about me to people in our circle! And people believed her! They even stopped coming to the website I used to run because she told them all these lies about me. Now I'm all paranoid because she is still doing it!

I don't care how much I am angry at someone, I would never post something about them somewhere. I may vent but I never use names.

Good article though Lou! I had no idea there were sites like that out there. Crazy what someone will do when they are angry about something. It's like I always say, the internet needs restriction...people are getting out of hand!

This forum got a bad crit on LJ by someone who is a member. Somehow that post vanished. Jae our dictator whistled me back before I made a reply.
I think we lost a few members over it.

I think it's not fair since you have no proof that something actually has happened. or stories are one side biased.

edit:

not fair not !!!

Revenge is a dish best served cold indeed... and the more you can trash
the person(s) reputation, the better. It's nothing new, the Internet's just
another way of doing the same thing we've been doing since we graduated
from caves and clubs.

...$10,000 to (quote) "provide a VIP service creating new, positive content."
Well, I guess that's a step up from suing the pants of everyone.

Soooooo true! It seems to be in human nature to gossip.
