He basically logs into that computer from home and enters the command:
eject /dev/scd0
That command causes the cdrom drive to eject. The cd drawer pops out and hits the door button to open the door to let his coworker in. Then the cd drawer retracts, ready for the next time.

I'd be inclined to shoot whoever installed the cardlock... ever heard of TESTING
