Vulcans (conjecture)
- not specifically stated in the anime what type of guns the Behemoth
is armed with, but Vulcan is the service name for the M61-series
rotary-barrel 20mm gun. A hydraulically-driven, air-cooled, electrically-
fired cannon with a high rate of fire (the aircraft-mounted model has
selectable rates of 4000 or 6000rpm) and an effective range of several
thousand yards. It is also surprisingly versatile, having been used in
naval (as the Phalanx CIWS weapon) and ground (M163 Vulcan) mounts,
and long-lived, the Gatling principal dating back to the 1800s, and the
original M61 itself entering service back in the 1950s.
