More FMP Anime Coming?

Dunno if anyone caught this, but...

The August 2004 issue of Dragon Magazine (on sale today - that's the Japanese magazine containing text stories, not the US magazine about role-playing games) states that the September 2004 issue (on sale 30 July 2004) will contain a big announcement about Full Metal Panic.

As I recall, Fumoffu was announced in this same fashion, too. Anyone got anything on this?

Uuhh... news to me but I doubt the August issue is in my local bookstore yet.

But now I have to get up early to try to run down there tomorrow

Yeah, I read it a little while ago, but wasn't sure if anyone had posted about it yet so didn't. Gomen.

I'm either thinking it's a new anime or possibly, as it's Dragon, the ones who publish the novels, a new serious storyline for the novels.

I'm hoping for the new anime as it will definitely be licensed due to how popular FMP! is, and I'd love to see End of Day by Day animated. And I know a lot of people who found the first anime inconclusive. But another novel series would be great, as long as it's translated online again. Hell, maybe there will be more conclusion to the who romance element.

But I guess we just have to wait 'til 30th July and hop Natsume Maya puts the info up.

My buddies friend told him about a rumor that there was something new related to fmp coming

Movie or OVA but I didnt want to get everybodys hopes up.. I mean it was just a rumor... maybe its related to this

Well we'd have to wait until someone who got the mag could put it on the internet.. maybe just a day.. maybe longer.

No Aug issue here yet, I wanted to see the announcement of an announcement.

I would guess more anime could be the most logical, but there are other possibilities, so, lets not start any rumors yet

(video game.. live action series.. *tries to think of wild things but is too tired* BTW the novels are ongoing, the chaps in DM have looked to be pretty heavy so its not about more novels)

Indeed! Has been a while, but I'm still floating around. Though unfortunately I got laid off from ADV last week, so that kind of sucks. Was looking forward to working on Fumoffu. C'est la vie.

At any rate, I'd been hearing rumblings about something new coming down the pipe, and then I caught that article a couple weeks ago, so recalling how Fumoffu was likewise announced like that, things began to click...

Figured I'd toss it out to the crowd, since I think it was Jae who got a hold of Dragon Magazine last time when they did that for Fumoffu.

Hmm... the acutal confirmed news of Fumo came down the net pipe to me, but what had happened prior to that is a anime-style spread in Newtype, a couple of months after the final DVD was released.

Although some said that didn't signify anything, and perhaps that could have been true, to me there didn't appear to be any valid business reason for such a spread except to start hype on more anime. There were no anime-style releases to coincide with, and japanese articles almost always tie into something. FMP simply was not popular enough in Newtype to justify a 'memorial' type spread. And then a month or so later we had Fumo confirmed (and then it was delayed).

I haven't been keeping up with Newype this year so I don't know if there's been anything similar. I would expect such an announcement to be initally in DM, because it's FMP's home turf. All we can do is wait and see
