dude, in one night i read all of christmas cake, beginnings of 'Dinner', and three other FMP moosh fics... THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS OVERDOSE, merely a glorious high followed by a severe headache only curable by seppuku. Oh, and when you try to sleep and close yer eyes you see white flashes with groups of words from the fics. im not jokin, i was so freaked out! i could hear my own voice reading clusters of words from the fics in my mind!! maybe im jus goin crazy.

I was thinking of picking out a few scenes out of Higher Education I'd had thoughts on and having people choose which one should be next, since I haven't decided myself. But for the bribe, you can make it any scene and I'll try my best!

Kaname coaxs Sousuke into staying the night in her bed. Things go where one might expect them to go, even as far as to be right on the brink.

Then, or course, the damn phone goes off... there is an emergency... Sousuke is the only LD capable pilot available.

Off he goes. Kaname waits on pins and needles.

Sousuke comes back. He tells Kaname that he had blurted things out while on the TDD-1. Says everyone took up a collection for him. Kaname asks what he was going to buy her with the $$$. Sousuke says it wasn't money, and tips over his weapons bag, spilling out dozens of condoms. Kaname asks for everyone's addresses... she has a lot of thank you notes to write.

Turnabout is fair play. I have some things I want said and done, but if you wish to give a list of mental images, words, concepts, etc... I'll certainly see if they can be used. Same goes for Avlor, who seemed on the verge of moosh meltdown.

Well, there is a passage I was thinking about using in Chp. 12.

In Japanese folklore, two creatures, foxes (kitsune) and badgers (tanuki), have been known for their deceitful ways. Like their Western counterpart, kitsune are thought to be sly and wily. They often assume human form in Japanese fairytales in order to trick people; indeed, they are "foxy." Because their pelts are a golden brown color (what the Japanese call kitsune iro, or "fox colored"), and because they are said to like the taste of abura age (fried bean curd), reference to kitsune on a menu will typically signal the inclusion of fried bean curd in the dish. Throughout Japan, kitsune udon, or "fox" noodles are thick, slithery white noodles in broth, topped with slightly sweet, soy-simmered, fried bean curd. In a recipe, kitsune iro will mean food has been fried, sauteed or toasted to a golden brown color. Most storybook tanuki badgers look rather cute pounding their distended bellies under a full moon. But beware: they are known primarily for their nasty tricks. No wonder then, that tanuki noodles are garnished with only scraps of fried tempura batter (ten kasu, in Japanese). Tricking people into not noticing that the shrimp are "missing," is typical of deceitful badger ways. The same soup and buckwheat noodles with fried batter has a different, rather chic, image in the Kansai region, especially Osaka. There, ten kasu is often called haikara, a reference to the foreign fashion of high collared shirts at the turn of the century. In Kansai, tanuki soba is the name for buckwheat noodles topped with bean curd; the cunning deception being substituting soba for udon noodles.

Foxes play yet another role in Japanese folklore: they act as assistants to the deity Inari. Because of this association of foxes, bean curd, and Inari shrines, the slightly sweet, soy-simmered, fried bean curd pouches that are stuffed with vinegared rice are known as inari-zushi. In the Kansai region, the pouches are triangular (mimicing fox ears!), while in Kanto, inari-zushi are typically rectangular, or pillow-shaped.

That's not greedy, it's actually a really good idea. No sketch is wasted after all, so the ones that doesn't end up being next can come after that. It'll take me some time to do the contest drawings though, mostly because I need to go back, read, and make note of the scenes I had been thinking of drawing. My word doc is now 76 pages long, and that's a lot of material to review and decide from

Seriously, my first idea you already put to word - I was really wanting to see Kaname get seriously injured. She never does in the anime or manga, and hardly ever even in fanfics, while Sousuke gets his ass beat to a pulp both by bad guys as well as her! Totally unfair. BTW, the inked stage of that pic is done! Check out the illustrations thread.

Something I think it'd be nice to see is Kaname using her brain to defend herself or Sousuke and defeat an attacker. She's actually really smart but it hardly ever gets shown since she never has to use her intelligence to accomplish anything in the plotline.

It might also be nice to see Kaname's role reversed and her protecting/saving Sousuke from danger. Like if Kaname had been the one forced into the contest in Most Dangerous Game (maybe not that harsh on her, but that kind of idea.)

Ah! I just remembered a couple of things I'd REALLY like to see more of - Kaname trying to ambush Sousuke or otherwise beat him at his own speciality. Like a paintball competition between them! I loved the opening scene of Christmas Cake because it was exactly that! “Your approach was somewhat noisy, but remarkably quiet for an untrained girl with large feet. Were you testing me?" Both funny and mushy at the same time! We really never see them competing with each other, but I think that at least Kaname would feel highly competitive with Sousuke. I say that because I think Kaname's a lot like me in her temperment, and I've always felt competitive with my husband. For instance it irks me to no END that he got a higher score than me on the SAT for instance, and whenever he got better grades than me in college it just made me fume. Sousuke's also like my husband in that he's very passive, calm, and collected, but I think his competitive spirit could be provoked while having fun with Kaname.

Second, it'd be nice to see Sousuke fight back against the beatings more. If he chose she couldn't lay a hand on him, and it's always satisfying to see her try to hit him but then he dodges, catches her, or otherwise thwarts her destructive urge. It could also lead to lots of mushiness..... "Kaname's anger boiled over as she swung to hit him into left field..... and ended as she, facing the ceiling and cradled in his arms, dazedly looked up into Sousuke's eyes wondering what had happened. He had turned her uncontrolled momentum against her by pulling her arm forward to throw her off balance and catching her waist, ever the specialist. Her anger having been temporarily diverted, Sousuke took the opportunity to extinguish it altogether with a passionate kiss...." I'm not a writer or anything, but that's my uber-romantically-mushy ideal. I had that punch defense demonstrated on me once. The instructor said "swing" and it's like I did, then I was looking at ceiling, with nothing in between! cool....

Uhh.... that's all I can think of off the top of my head!

Well, you hit close to the mark... there's something like that in Chp. 12 (minor and playful) that serves to give Kaname something serious to think about (won't say what...)

a. Kaname running to Sousuke, bag over his shoulder, as he walks towards her just coming back from his mission.

b. The scene where he has her up against the wall when they first met again, with the surprise at seeing each other while Sousuke has the gun at her neck, or has just taken it awy.

c. In the darkness of the park, where Kaname is frightened and disoriented, but reaches out to touch Sousuke for reassurance and some bearing on the world.

d. A difficlt one to draw: Sousuke...somewhat dicsomforted...surrounded by a bevy of girls as Kaname scowls, watching (it happened a number of times already, and will happen again later as a way fro Kaname to 'rescue' Sousuke/act on her feelings of possessiveness)

e. Sousuke with apron on, with Kaname's initial reaction

f. A scene that is upcoming: The two of them sitting on the couch... a loud noise triggers Sousuke's protective response, he knocks Kaname onto her back on the couch, laying just above her, holding himself up by his arms (forearms flat on couch).

g. Scene where she is close to him, clenching his shirt with her hands.

h. Sousuke holding Kaname, his chin on his head, before or after he actually has tears.

i. Another upcoming scene. Sitting outside somewhwere, eating bentos, Kaname getting Sousuke to talk about his idea of the future.

j. Scene where they are about to get intimate, where Kaname unbuttons his shirt for him.

Again, anything that really sparks interest and entusiasm would be fun ...or something that would serve as a worthwhile challenge/experience/learning process.

@Kashim - I'm 24, got married when I was.... uh..... 22. (I have trouble remembering how long we've been married, because we've been togethre so much longer than that) We started dating each other when we were 16 When it comes to relationships, at least between people who are close to my age, I usually feel ancient. When it comes to people my age and talking about anime/manga, I feel like a kid, because most other people my age aren't into either. It's a real shame, they never know what they're missing!

Hmm... now that you know a little about my past, I feel compelled to point out something, hopefully this won't count as TMI (too much information) - As a married woman I think I can safely say that condoms are probably the most uncomfortable way to prevent pregnancy, but that's like the only kind of prevention method anyone uses in anime/manga or fanfiction. It'd be wonderful to see Kaname go on the pill, patch, or get an IUD, or something else not condom.... There's a bewildering myriad of other birth control options they could use after all....
